Was slightly worried about my choice after reading the reviews, but honestly I didnt need to be. We arrived on the friday, the room wasnt ready yet (but we had arrived very early at around 1pm), so we took ourselves off for a wander (would recommended visiting Rydal caves!). The location of the hotel is amazing, out straight to the right takes you into Ambleside centre and out left takes you to Windermere. The room was clean and the bed, my god I would take the bed home with me if I could it was so comfy! There was a fan in the room which was a godsend as it got quite warm on the night time. The bathroom was lovely as well, bath was huge! We got all the info via WhatsApp the day before and it was so easy! The pin for the key lock worked fine and registering the car for the car park was easy. To be honest its all very easy and straight forward if you just follow the details yoy are given in the messages. The sofa bed was made up for my son (11yrs) who loved it as it was like a double bed all to himself. We used our room more of a base with how much we went to do (Rydal caves/lake grismere/lake Windermere/Grizedale forest) so it was perfect. We hope to come back again!

We turned up yesterday to be treated to builders sitting on our supposed private bench smoking. The cement mixer noise was horrendous. We stayed 5 mins and then checked out ASAP. If we were told in advance we wouldn't have bothered...

Lovely clean rooms with a big comfy bed, big bath tub, fluffy towels and only a few minutes walk into Ambleside. Although not a manned reception, clear instructions were given with the booking. Ample on-site parking too. Would definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful stay at Ambleside Rooms in the Lake District. The location is absolutely perfect — right in the heart of Ambleside, with shops, cafés, and beautiful walks just a short stroll away. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a great place to relax after a day of exploring.
