Helm View comes fully equipped for a week away. The essentials—electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi—are all covered. The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer, so you can cook proper meals or keep things simple. Logs for the woodburner are available locally. Upstairs are four bedrooms: two doubles, two singles and a third bedroom with twin beds, plus a family bathroom. Downstairs, the open-plan ground floor contains a living area with Freeview TV, DVD and CD players, a dining space opening onto the garden, and a games room for rainy afternoons.

The cottage sits in Annisgarth, a tree-lined neighbourhood a short walk from Windermere centre and Bowness. Private parking fits three cars. The garden has a patio and furniture. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The countryside starts five minutes on foot away, with views toward the lake and beyond. Crags Adventures is nearby for outdoor activities. Ambleside and Hawkshead are within five miles, and local shops are about a mile away.

A lovely cottage to spend time with extended family. Very well furnished and everything provided for making family meals. The location is excellent as it is between Bowness and Windermere. Be aware of the extremely steep hill to climb to get to the property though.

The house was ok as a base but not like a home from home. The space is good although on two levels so remember the step down to the kitchen! The new kitchen is nice except all the storage is taken up with plates/saucepans/dishes etc that there is nowhere to put any food/shopping. Parts of the wall and ceiling in the shower room downstairs is affected quite badly by mould. The 3 piece suite smells like dog quite a lot and could do with a wash / freshen up. The dryer part of the washing machine didn't work while we were there. The bedrooms upstairs need a good clean - the fake wooden floor (very creaky) in the twin room was very dusty and the space between the bed and mattress by the pillows was full of dirt and hair! The double bedroom downstairs is also affected by mould. None of the curtains/lampshades match which I suppose most people won't mind for a holiday rental but for me it's the little things! It's a shame the garden isn't fenced off! It was nice that there was washing up liquid/dishwasher tablets/foil/clingfilm provided (we replaced what we used). The big table is a really good size to eat at or play games on. And the WiFi was easy to connect to!

Not bad, but we had issues with the split level front room /dining room floor. Couldn't get the owner to respond to a phone call. Cottages for you were lovely though
