High Birch Close

Matterdale sits in a quiet valley between Keswick and Penrith, a short drive from Ullswater and roughly ten minutes from the M6. High Birch Close occupies nearly an acre here, a detached stone cottage set back from the road with its own drive and mature grounds that combine open lawn with woodland at the rear—good for wildlife spotting and genuinely peaceful.

The house sleeps six across three bedrooms: a kingsize, a double, and two singles. Bathrooms number two—one en-suite shower room, one upstairs with bath and shower. Downstairs you get a proper layout for a group: separate living and dining rooms, a kitchen with dishwasher and two large fridges, a garden room, and a breakfast room. Woodburners feature in the living room, dining room and garden room; logs to get you started are included. The essentials—electricity, wifi, bed linen—are covered.

The garden room and patio look out over the grounds, and there's a store room for bikes if you're exploring the fells. No smoking throughout. Children and cots are fine; hand and bath towels aren't provided, but tea towels are.
