Lowther

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

Lowther is a converted stone barn on elevated ground near the Cumbrian Way, with views across the valley towards Ullswater. You arrive via a single-track country lane and park on site. The cottage spreads across three floors: on the ground floor is a kitchen with electric cooker, microwave and fridge opening to a dining area; upstairs, two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with two singles) and a bathroom with bath and shower; at the top, a sitting room with TV and DVD player. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided, and gas central heating keeps you warm.

This is walking country. The fells start at your door, and the Cumbrian Way runs alongside. Nearby Rookin House offers pony trekking if you want to explore differently. Ullswater is close enough for boating, sailing or a launch trip. Beyond that, the region has Aira Force waterfall, Wetheriggs Pottery, Penrith Castle, Lowther Wildlife Park and Hutton in the Forest within reach. There is no wi-fi here. One pet is welcome. No smoking indoors.
