Millstream

Millstream comes ready to use. Electricity, heating, wifi, bed linen and towels are all included. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and washer-dryer, so you can cook properly or keep things simple. The living room has a TV and Freesat, plus a wood-burning stove, and French doors open onto the garden where you can sit with a view of the mill race—an old stone water channel that runs just outside, audible from the house.

The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms: one with a super kingsize bed, the other with two singles. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower over. Off-street parking for one car is provided on site. Smoking is not permitted inside.

Alston sits in the North Pennines, with rambling and cycling routes starting from the village. The Pennine Way passes through the area. A pub is within a mile's walk, and Alston's high street has independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The South Tynedale railway runs vintage steam and diesel trains from the station. Longer drives reach Hadrian's Wall sites, Kielder Water, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
