Riverview apartment
Westmorland and Furness
Backbarrow sits where industrial heritage meets the Lake District landscape. The Riverview apartment occupies the second floor of a converted ironworks, with the River Leven running past and a preserved 1711 blast furnace marking the site's past. A couple staying here gets a contemporary open-plan space with a double bedroom, bathroom with shower, and a kitchen fitted for actual cooking—electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and the rest. Heating, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are all included.
The location puts you within reach of several draw cards. Haverthwaite steam railway runs heritage trains a short drive away. Newby Bridge, five minutes down the road, has riverside pubs, the Lakes Aquarium and access to Windermere Lake Cruises. The River Leven itself attracts kayakers for its rapids. There is a pub within a mile of the apartment. A car park on site means your own transport stays close by. No smoking is permitted inside.
