Built in the late 1600s, Rushgill House is a farmhouse on the northern edge of the Lake District, surrounded by substantial gardens that give the place a genuine sense of seclusion. The building itself has the character you'd expect from its age: a living room centred around a working open fire, a separate dining room, and a kitchen equipped for real cooking—gas oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave. A utility room with washing machine sits downstairs too.
Three bedrooms sleep six: one with two single beds (3ft), two with double beds (4ft 6in). Two bathrooms serve them—one with a bath, one with a shower cubicle. Heating is oil central, and the essentials are covered: bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, and the initial fuel for the fire. One dog stays free. The grounds include a large lawn to the front, a patio with furniture and barbecue, space for badminton and football, and parking for four cars. No smoking inside.
From here, Penrith is nine miles away. Ullswater and the Keswick fells lie within a 20-minute drive. The Happy Hooves Riding Centre is nearby. Village walks are on the doorstep, and country lanes wind through the surrounding area.
