Greystoke is a quiet village near Penrith, well placed for exploring the Lake District and the Eden Valley, and it's here, within the grounds of Greystoke Castle, that Stafford House Guest House makes its home in a distinctive folly building. The setting is unusual for a guest house and gives the eight rooms a character that's hard to find elsewhere in the area.

Dear Hazel, I hope you see this . Thanks so much for looking after us on our 3 day visit, beginning of July. We had a fantastic time staying with you, your building is amazing. So clean and well looked after and historic. We had the luxury king size room which is huge, loads of storage, tea and coffee and little fridge. The bed was so damn comfy I still feel bad about over sleeping!! We had breakfast every day, I had salmon and scrambled eggs, wife had croissants. Our room adjoined the huge lounge which is great for chilling with a bottle of wine and TV in the evening. We even learnt Hazel's history here which was great. The grounds are beautiful in the summer too and walked up to the castle for a beer and walk round. We ate at the horse and farrier every night. The food was outstanding, £100 for 2 mains, 2 starters and a bottle of wine!!! I've not had pub food to that standard 👍👍👍 Do yourself a favour and forget about the pub over the road. No food, frosty reception and lousy drinks. Thanks Hazel for everything including having a great laugh with us both. Hope we get to see you on the way to our wedding. Love Scott and Becca

Fantastic location in a beautiful garden in the castle grounds. Hazel couldn't be a more welcoming host and she does everything she can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The BnB is spotlessly clean and like a little step back in time. Breakfasts are huge with lots of choice and plenty of veggie and vegan options. I've stayed there three times and I highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stafford Guest House. The property is beautiful, set within peaceful surroundings and complemented by a lovely garden. We stayed in the four-poster bedroom, which was spacious, tastefully decorated, and perfectly balanced comfort with a touch of luxury. It also offered delightful views overlooking the garden. Our hosts were exceptionally welcoming and friendly, providing engaging conversation as well as helpful local recommendations. Everything was clearly explained upon arrival, making the entire experience smooth and effortless from the very beginning. Breakfast was both delicious and generous in portion. Additionally, there is a charming village pub just a short walk away — The Boot & Shoe Inn — which added to the experience. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We had a great time at the Stafford House. We had an early start the next day, so we could not stick around for the breakfast and Hazel was very kind to make a brilliant packed lunch for us. We'll definitely staying again in the future!
