About The Smugglers Inn
The Smugglers Inn is a historic pub-turned-hotel with plenty of old-world character, tucked into the coastline at Osmington Mills near Weymouth. Its low ceilings, thick walls and cosy corners give it the feel of a proper old inn, while the setting right on the Jurassic Coast adds to the appeal for anyone after a characterful base by the sea.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and the usual comforts, including free WiFi and drinks available in room, and guests have access to a restaurant, bar, garden and 24 hour reception. Breakfast is served on site, and the restaurant has built a reputation for hearty British dishes and burgers alongside a good range of vegetarian and vegan choices, though some find the food pricier than expected. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, adding to the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Outside, there's free on-site parking, useful given the coastal location, and the surrounding area offers walking routes along the cliffs, nearby fishing spots, and further pubs and restaurants within easy reach. Pets are welcome, and with Weymouth Beach and the harbour close by, it makes a practical spot for exploring this stretch of the Dorset coast.

What guests say
This is such a lovely pub. The location shows Dorset at its best and the staff are very welcoming. We were a large family group of 17 (9 adults and 8 children) eating outside for an early dinner. Our food arrived together and was very tasty. We were all impressed at how well the staff could accommodate such a large group and had a wonderful evening. Thank you!

Only drank here, no food, so this is a pub review rather than a food one. The beer selection is excellent and includes things you rarely see elsewhere in Dorset, which is worth the trip on its own. Prices are on the higher side, but the setting explains a lot of that. The outdoor seating is the main event. Proper sun trap, plenty of tables, dog water out, and a thatched building behind it all. Low ceilings inside if you're tall, so be warned. Bathrooms were clean. Right on the South West Coast Path with great walks in both directions, so easy to build a day around. We loved it. Bar staff could be a bit more attentive and stop yapping to one another when there’s customers waiting.

We visited while on holiday and had a lovely meal. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly team. The pub has a relaxed, inviting atmosphere in a beautiful location, making it a great place to sit back and enjoy a meal. The food was excellent – freshly prepared, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The service was just as good: attentive, friendly and efficient without ever feeling rushed. We had a thoroughly enjoyable visit and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for great food and genuine hospitality. If we’re back in the area, we’d definitely make a point of visiting again.

We had a lovely visit to the Smugglers Inn. There was 23 people in our party, celebrating my Mother In Laws Birthday. We camped in Ringstead Farm and walked along the beautiful coast path to the Smugglers. The team were amazing at accommodating all of us. Thank you to Georgie for your amazing service. Thank you to the rest of the team. I can imagine the chefs were up against it to get 23 meals out at the same time
