About Morningside Hotel

Morningside Hotel is a modest, fourteen-room property set along North Promenade in Whitby, offering a manageable scale that lends itself to a quiet, unhurried stay rather than a bustling one. Its position close to Whitby Abbey makes it a practical base for exploring the town, and free on-site parking removes one of the usual headaches of a seaside visit.

Rooms are en-suite, with some enjoying sea views, and are kept clean and comfortable, with family rooms available and drinks provided in-room. Free WiFi and 24-hour reception add to the convenience, while a bar on the property gives guests somewhere to unwind without having to venture out. Breakfast is a particular strength, with a generous and varied spread served each morning, and the staff are attentive and consistently friendly.

Beyond the hotel, the area offers plenty to fill the days: walking and cycling routes, a nearby golf course, watersports, and a good choice of pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach. It's a peaceful spot overall, well suited to those who want Whitby's attractions close by without staying in the thick of it.

Another amazing four-night stay at the Morningside Hotel in Whitby with my three children and my mum, and once again it was fantastic. The staff are so friendly and genuinely can’t do enough for you—nothing is ever too much trouble. They even took the time to play games with the children, which they absolutely loved. The whole hotel is spotless, and the breakfasts are delicious (the best poached eggs I’ve ever had!). It really has a home-from-home feel, and the location couldn’t be better—right on the edge of town with stunning sea views. This was our second visit, and if we’re ever back on the North East coast, this will be the very first place we book. We were genuinely sad to leave. A huge thank you to Leanne, Paul and the whole team for making our stay so special. You’re all amazing!

What a gorgeous place to stay... 100% recommended to anyone who wants to stay in the whitby area. The room we stayed in (no.5) was immaculate, large bedroom, separate storage/dressing room with mini fridge stocked with complimentary water n milk (re-stocked daily) and a very decent sized bathroom with walk in shower. Cleanliness was 100%, not a speck of dust anywhere. Vertical radiators in main room/bathroom which are very modern and kept the rooms so cosy. Good size freeview tv in main room and 2 armchairs if u wanted to crash in front. The staff were amazing, only too happy to help, we spent ages chatting in the fully stocked bar about the local area and swapped holiday stories. Then the breakfast... wow!.. one of the best full English ive had in a long time.. great quality food and the optional buffet style cereals available, offered top ups on coffee, toast etc... couldn't eat any more lol. The location is just a 5 min walk from the main town centre and there are plenty restraint/takeaway places right on the doorstep... could not recommended this place any higher!

Peaceful Seaside Hotel with Excellent Service and Views Our stay at the Morningside Hotel in Whitby was excellent from start to finish. The staff were genuinely welcoming and attentive, always ready to help and making us feel comfortable throughout our stay. Their friendliness and professionalism really stand out and make a big difference. The breakfast was another highlight. It was generous, freshly prepared, and offered plenty of choice. Everything was well presented and clearly made with quality ingredients, making it a great way to start the day. The hotel itself is very quiet and relaxing, perfect if you want to unwind and enjoy Whitby without noise or crowds. Our room had a beautiful sea view, and waking up to the sight of the coast each morning was something special. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The location is also very convenient, close enough to reach Whitby’s main attractions easily while still feeling peaceful and slightly away from the busiest areas. Overall, the Morningside Hotel offers a fantastic combination of warm hospitality, great food, comfort, and stunning sea views. It is a place we would happily return to and highly recommend to anyone visiting Whitby.
