About The Cara Guesthouse

Panoramic bay views from some of its rooms are the standout feature at The Cara Guesthouse, a small seven-room B&B on The Links in Whitley Bay. It's a low-key seafront set-up rather than a large hotel, with bright rooms and a full hot breakfast served each morning.

Guests get free WiFi, air conditioning and drinks in the room, along with use of a restaurant and bar on site, a snack bar, garden and lift access. There's also an indoor swimming pool, gym and spa/sauna for those who want to make use of the facilities beyond the room, plus laundry service, luggage storage and free on-site parking. The property also offers meeting rooms, business services and a wedding venue, with concierge, porter and valet parking on hand.

Pets are welcome, and childcare can be arranged. Beyond the guesthouse there are pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, and Beamish Open Air Museum is within reach for a day out, with Cramlington around 9.21 miles away.

I had a fantastic stay at Cara Guesthouse while attending Chase The Sun North, and I couldn’t have asked for a better base for the event. From the moment I arrived, I received a genuinely warm and friendly welcome that immediately made me feel at home. My room was spotless, with a very comfortable bed that ensured I got a great night’s sleep before a long day in the saddle. Having a fridge in the room was also a really useful touch. One of the biggest advantages for anyone taking part in Chase The Sun is the guesthouse’s excellent location. It was incredibly convenient for both registration and the ride start, meaning I could focus on the event rather than worrying about logistics. What really stood out, though, was the thoughtfulness of the hosts. Knowing I would be leaving at 4am, they kindly prepared a breakfast pack for me so I wouldn’t miss the most important meal of the day. It was such a considerate gesture and greatly appreciated before setting off on a 200+ mile adventure. Cara Guesthouse played a small but important part in helping make my Chase The Sun experience such a positive one. I only wish I’d had longer to stay and enjoy Whitley Bay. I’ll definitely be looking to return for a longer visit in the future. Highly recommended!

Maria got me a room last minute on Saturday night. The room was immaculate and had sea views. Great location and right next to the beach, cafes, bars and shops. The choice at breakfast is amazing and you must try the burritos and home made pancakes they are out if this world. I had a full English which was buetiful. Great value for money and i would highly recommend this guesthouse.
