About Old Hartley Caravan and Motorhome Club Site
Old Hartley commands a superb grassy cliff-top perch between Whitley Bay and Seaton Sluice, gazing down on St Mary's Island and its distinctive white lighthouse. Run by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, this members-only site (no tents) reopened after refurbishment with around sixty hardstanding pitches, all with electric hook-up. The rebuilt shower block meets Club standard, and facilities include laundry, dishwashing area, motorhome service point, site-wide wi-fi and a dog walk. There's no shop or playground, but Whitley Bay is moments away for supplies, and the site stays open year-round—ideal for winter storm-watching as much as summer breaks.
The real draw is the coast-meets-city combination. The England Coast Path passes the gate, St Mary's Island causeway is walkable at low tide, and Whitley Bay's long sands are a short cycle away. For Newcastle, hop on the Metro at Whitley Bay and you're in the city centre in half an hour. Seaward pitches offer the best views but catch the full force of the wind, and some visitors note facilities can feel a little tired in places despite the refurb. Seaton Delaval Hall, Vanbrugh's National Trust mansion, lies two miles inland.

What visitors say
This is a lovely Caravan & Motorhome Club site. It has sea views and very clean and well appointed services and facilities. The pitches are quite small ( No awnings) and also slope ( Wheel blocks / ramps needed). The wardens are very friendly and helpful. There are some lovely pubs very close by ( One is just outside the main entrance to the site). The coastal path / cycleway runs along the bottom of the site and you can cycle to Blythe, Whitley Bay & Tynemouth completely off-road.

As a disabled person i wish to request for an extra stool or chair and an additional reachable soap tray to be provided in the disabled toilet. The chair can be be used to dry yourself instead of sitting on the wet seat provide. The soap dish requested would be more accessible when showering and sitting on the existing stool. Thank you.

Very nice campsite, lovely views and nice walks to the lighthouse or Whitley Bay. Bus stop 10 mins walk down the road. Newcastle is about an 1.5 hour journey by bus and it's a lovely city to wonder round.

Lovely site, but noisy on a night with hooligans tearing up the coast road. Site staff appeared to be browbeaten, probably because the club treats them like slaves. I was sent a voucher by the CAMC I tried to use it but I hadn’t booked by X so couldn’t use it by Y. Worst part £50 a night, yes £50 and they provide water and electricity. Two water points have been removed now the only tap is on the far side of the site. One water point now has been converted into 3 serviced pitches so the club can extract more money. We could stay at a local hotel for £60 which includes breakfast. Greedy ‘club’ £37M in the bank. Lacklustre cyber security they got breached a few years ago. My info is now in the dark web. Not a club just a machine.
