The Chedburgh B&B

The small blocked paved driveway had moss, weeds and a dead plant outside. In the hallway, the banisters were dirty and felt unclean. The carpet was stained. The worst thing was there was no hot water in the morning to get a shower or a wash, so I had to have a cold wash at the sink. We also had to share the fairly clean, bathroom with up to 5 bedrooms. Once in the bedroom, I noticed the carpet looked grubby and there was mould in between the double glazing unit. There should not have been dust in the bedroom. The mattresses were rock hard and placed on some kind of home-made box platform. There was no hospitality tray - only some old coffee and mugs. They claimed there were a lot of things available, but no toiletries, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, teaspoons, biscuits, or a slip to order breakfast - as advertised!! The TV remote didn’t work. There was no hairdryer in the room. But I certainly wasn’t going to wash my hair with cold water! If this was available, I would have had to have gone downstairs and got it. As we were on the second floor, I wouldn’t have bothered, because I would have to climb four flights of stairs to bring it upstairs or dry my hair in the hallway. Far from ideal! I had three lengthy conversations with Airbnb and they tried to contact the host, Sara on my behalf, but there was no reply. I know I only paid £53, but as it was for only one night, I thought it would be okay. I wasn’t expecting an ensuite, but didn’t expect to have to share a shower & toilet with five other bedrooms! There was a bathroom for rooms five and six, and we were in room nine; but there were no signs for rooms 7-9 - unbelievable! This place is outdated and barely, fit for purpose.

The location is excellent and just a short walk away from the beach. Check in instructions were easy to follow and the room was nice and clean. Would happily stay again.

Over the moon with my stay at the Chedburgh, lovely clean and tidy rooms. Value for money and I was able to take my frenchie. We loved visiting the area and I’ll be booking up to stay again in the near future.
