About Windsor Hotel

Whitley Bay's seafront and town centre are both within easy reach of the Windsor Hotel, and the surrounding area offers plenty to fill a stay, from golf and fishing to walking and cycling routes, watersports, and a good spread of pubs and restaurants nearby. It makes a practical base for exploring the coast without needing to rely on a car, though free on-site parking is there if you do.

The hotel has 69 rooms, including family and accessible options, all en-suite, with drinks available in room. Guests regularly mention the rooms are a good size for the price, though standards of upkeep can vary and some have found maintenance lacking. A cooked breakfast is served each morning and has been a consistent highlight, with a restaurant and bar on site for other meals and drinks, plus kids' meals available for younger guests.

Staff are generally described as friendly and helpful, though a few visitors have found service inconsistent. Other facilities include a lift, luggage storage, meeting rooms, and space for weddings, and pets are welcome. For a straightforward, well-placed stay on the Tyne and Wear coast with the basics well covered, the Windsor Hotel does the job.

Lovely old hotel close to the seafront, with great value for money. The reception staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The lift is out of order so it was a bit of a chore getting everything up to the room, but the room itself was clean, warm and spacious. There was a separate bath and shower which was great. You choose your breakfast in advance and say roughly when you'll be there. The lady looking after us was super and all our food was perfect. Such a delicious cooked breakfast along with toast and cereal. The restaurant was spotless too. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again. One downside was the nightclub across the road, it was very noisy way into the night, but that's not the hotels fault. Also I must say some of the other guests had no respect for anyone else in the hotel and made lots of noise late at night, we always try to be quiet and considerate but it's a shame not everyone thinks that way, but again not the hotels fault.

What a disgusting place to stay ,stains on the carpet, filthy bathroom, very unhelpful staff . The heating was on full when we arrived (the temperature was 26° outside) even hotter in the room. Informed the receptionist and was told to go buy a fan! Several staff members trued to turn the heating off, but wouldn't work! The night porter told us the heating was automatic as it's and old building. Would highly recommend NOT to stay in this abysmal hotel. Waste of money and was utterly disgusting.

Stayed here the night before the Chase the Sun bike ride. Hotel staff absolutely brilliant letting us keep the bikes in the room. Would recommend this hotel to anytime doing the event in future years. Spot on.

Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding. Ticked all of our boxes, parking, comfy beds, large spacious room with ensuite. Hairdryer and coffee in the room, cooked breakfast options and extremely close to the beach. Staff were nice and helpful. Would stay again and would recommend.
