About Hotel Continental
Hotel Continental has stood on Whitstable's seafront for decades and is as much a local landmark as it is a place to stay, thanks in large part to the row of restored black weatherboarded fishermen's huts it operates directly on the beach beside the main building. The huts, once used to store fishing tackle, now sleep couples or small families right on the shingle, while the hotel itself offers more conventional rooms with sea or town views a short walk from the harbour.
The hotel's restaurant and bar look directly out over the water, making it a popular spot for a drink at sunset even among visitors staying elsewhere in town, and its position puts the harbour, high street and Tankerton Slopes all within easy walking distance.
Because the fishermen's huts in particular are in high demand throughout the summer and around the Oyster Festival, early booking is worthwhile for anyone hoping to secure one, with standard hotel rooms generally easier to find at short notice.

Standard room exceptional heat in the room. Mobile fan supplied in the room totally impractical and useless as it just circulated the hot air around the room. Ensuite shower over the bath, however no handrail to assist with getting out of the bath. This in itself was precarious. No light over the bathroom mirror. Room was compact and disappointing no full length mirror one window restricted to accessing fresh air. Pillows not refreshed on a 3 night stay. Breakfast excellent however servers sullen and no interaction with the guest. Expressed my concerns on departure received just the normal platitudes. Would not consider staying here again.

What a lovely hidden gem of Whitstable! We had a lovely time for one night here. Great view of the sea at a time where its been so hot. They even gave us a parking space! Paula and Katariina were especially nice to us making sure we wer comfy. The room was airy and the breakfast was mammoth. The beach is literally 1 min walk. Thanks guys! X

After 15 years of visiting Whitstable we finally made it for a mini break in this gorgeous hotel. It’s beautifully furnished, in a stunning location for sunset and sunrise with welcoming reception staff. The restaurant food was fab and at a calmer end of the harbour. Look forward to returning again.

Lucky to get a room here, even luckier to get a parking space. The rooms are well equipped, all of the staff and friendly and helpful. Food is delicious 😋 We have stayed here previously and would definitely do so again. Thank you for another wonderful stay.
