Beresford Road sits within easy walking distance of both Windermere town centre and the lake itself, with the fells rising in the background, making Oakfold House a handy base for exploring the surrounding Lake District countryside. The eight rooms are en-suite, kept spotlessly clean, and there's free on-site parking, which is a genuine advantage in a town where space can be tight.
Mornings start with a freshly cooked breakfast offering a good range of choices, and there's a bar on site along with a garden and outdoor seating for relaxing afterwards. Wi-Fi is free throughout, and practical extras such as luggage storage, laundry service and meeting rooms make it workable for business stays as well as holidays. The hosts are attentive and go out of their way to make guests feel looked after.
Beyond the front door there's plenty to fill the days, with walking and cycling routes nearby, golf and fishing within reach, and watersports available on the lake. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are close by for evenings out, making the short walk into town or down to the water an easy one to repeat daily.

The Oakfold House is a fantastic place to stay while visiting the Lake District. Chris and Robyn run a wonderful B&B Hotel. The variety for breakfast was outstanding. Everything tasted great and was cooked to order. The hotel was absolutely charming from the room to the common areas. Everything was clean, tidy and well kept. The fragrances and soaps they use are excellent. I have never stayed in a place that smelled so good. Parking in the rear for private car park or on the street. Your choice. Walking distance to the ferry for crossing the largest lake in thr district. In fact, we did not even use our car when we stayed. We walked everywhere to include for dinner. Everything is close. Cannot thank Chris and Robyn for the kind hospitality. Choose Oakfold and you will not regret it.

We had a lovely stay at Oakfold House. Hosts were just fantastic with putting so much effort to make guests feel like home. Rooms were decorated nicely, and quite spacious. Breakfast was very delicious, freshly cooked each day. Location was very convenient with quick stroll to the Lake, and also in a very quite street to enjoy restful stay. I’d definitely recommend and return to this place again!

Stayed for 3 nights in May 2026 in a king double room. The room was spotlessly clean, quiet and very comfortable. Excellent cooked breakfast, and nice selection of cereals & fruit juices. On site parking was useful. The hosts Chris & Robyn were very friendly & helpful. Location is good for Bowness (10-15 minute walk) and Windermere (15-20 minute walk). Also close to other walks (Orrest Head, Millerground). It is also just off the main bus route (went to Ambleside on 599 open top bus). We had a fantastic stay and would return here when next in the area.

I had a fantastic few nights at Oakfold House and would definitely recommend staying here. I love the period features and it's beautifully and tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was amazing and always cooked to perfection. I had room 4, a single room and it was cosy, the bed was really comfortable, I slept really well. It's clear that lots of love care and attention to detail has gone into this lovely B&B. The location is great and there's lots of fantastic walks and viewpoints around.
