What a gem of a campsite. Large pitches for the caravan, well maintained grass areas - electric grass cutters definitely earn their keep always out cutting the grass - good walk for the dog for early morning stroll. Water and electrics on each caravan pitch so no walking to a main water source, perfect. Whole site is surrounded by natural tree shelter. Facilities are 5*, showers and toilet areas are spacious and the added bonus of underfloor heating in the showers was a luxury I didn’t know I needed on a campsite. There is a quaint bar area and outside covered drinking area which has the sites pizza van. Good value for money. Perfect place to sit down and meet fellow caravan and campers. The bar favours cash but you can pay with card. There are 4 lodges on site also, didn’t see inside these but if they are anything like the camping facilities they will be perfect. There were no tents when we came but the grass area is level and spacious. There is nothing negative about this site, clean, large site, amazing facilities, staff are extremely friendly and nothing too much trouble. Perfect location for visiting York, Castle Howard and the Yorkshire countryside. Will definitely be booking again and will be on my ‘go to campsites list’ for a short break or a long one.

Fantastic site, we'll definitely be back! It was our first stay here, May 2026. The staff were all really friendly, warm and welcoming. Pitches were generously sized and plenty of space between other campers. We booked an electric tent pitch. The shower and toilet blocks were very clean and facilities well maintained. We loved the bar and airstream pizza van! The Flaxton Gold draught was really nice in the bar, would recommend with a dash of lime cordial and this was reasonably priced, too. We took an Uber to York on the Saturday: depending on time of day and whether you prebook it's between £12 - £16. Even though we've only just come back, we're already looking at returning for a couple of nights in the summer, and we'll be booking direct again. We've also recommended to friends and family. Decided to book a week's camping here and we were so pleased we did. Nice, flat , spacious area to pitch our tent, with exceptionally clean toilet/shower facilities nearby. Very helpful and friendly staff and a welcoming bar to have a pint in the evening plus pizza van to get a bite to eat. It will be even better when they have an on-site shop. Two tips if you are camping in a tent, bring some earplugs for the very early morning birdsong and trains that blast their horns, also some citronella oil to protect yourself from the vicious horseflies! We will definitely be staying here again, this is a gem!

Had a fantastic stay at Flaxton Meadows! Lovely area with clean, up-to-date facilities. The bar was great and the pizza van was a really nice touch too. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again!
