The hotel is all as advertised. Our room (24) was clean and comfortable with all amenities readily available. The staff were all very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is great - easily walkable to the city centre and yet pretty quiet. The restaurant meal we had was delicious too!. We would recommend staying here

We love this hotel and the location. We could not have been happier with our room on this occasion. Really well-finished, spotless, great amenities and a fabulous big, comfy bed. Air con was a big bonus given the weather. Staff as lovely and welcoming as ever. Food and drink are always great, too. We will certainly look forward to staying again.

The front desk staff and the lovely ladies at the bar were all top notch!!! The hotel itself was absolutely lovely. A lot of character & quirks whilst still remaining lovely & modern. Would gladly stay again and would strongly recommend to anyone who wants to be close to the city centre (less than 10 minutes walk), yet enjoy the quiet atmosphere to relax at night. We stayed in room 51 in Chaplins House and it was perfect! So spacious! We didn’t eat at the hotel, only because we there for such a short time (2 nights) so we wanted to get in as much city time as possible. We will definitely be coming back and staying longer! I would recommend this hotel with the highest confidence!!! You cannot go wrong!

The hotel was amazing. The room and bathroom were very spacious — the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The staff were very kind and helpful. The hotel’s location is ideal for exploring York, with the city centre only a 10-minute walk away. The only downside I can think of is that the bath drain smelled a little funky, but I think that’s fairly normal for historic buildings, especially on the ground floor. We will definitely stay there again if we visit York in the future. Highly recommended.
