Crachan Ballater is a second-floor apartment in a converted Victorian stone building, accessed by 22 steps. You arrive into a living room with a smart TV, then through to a fitted kitchen with electric oven, hob and microwave, alongside a fridge-freezer and washing machine. Two double bedrooms (each 4ft 6in beds) and a bathroom with bath and shower complete the layout. The whole place is yours alone, decorated in contemporary style with heating and hot water included, along with wi-fi and bed linen.
Ballater sits on the River Dee in Royal Deeside, surrounded by wooded hills. The town has pubs, independent cafes, shops and a butcher, plus a visitor centre housed in the old station building. Walking and cycling routes radiate from here into the Cairngorms, with Balmoral Castle 7 miles west. Private parking for one car is at the rear of the building, and there is secure bike storage on the ground floor. Smoking is not permitted inside. Check-in is from 15:00 and checkout by 10:30.

Lovely place, service was outstanding and the food was also delicious. We had a veggie burger and a sunday roast, which were both great. Would be lovely outside in the sun but also a cosy place if the weather has turned. Definitely recommend x

Pretty great place, promptly seated and orders taken. Waiter was new, so he struggled a bit, but all in all he did pretty good. Only issue I really had was the heat, uncomfortably hot, and even though I started I wanted to try the amber ale, my point say empty.

A delightful spot, on a sunny day, for lunch on their outdoor terrace. I'd rate the Cullen Skink as among the best I've had. Very friendly, good service. Delightful setting, inside or out. Would definitely return.

Great food, friendly staff, dog friendly. And genuinely the best Sunday roast I have had in ages. Would recommend. 3 course each and a couple drinks. Under £100.
