Ballater Caravan Park sits on level ground beside the River Dee, close enough to the village centre that you can walk to the butcher or the pub without moving the car. That combination of riverside calm and practical convenience is harder to find than it should be, and it's one reason the park has earned an AA four-star rating and Campsite of the Year recognition. Pitches are generous, with hardstandings for tourers and motorhomes kept separate from a self-pitching tent field, and the whole site runs to a consistently high standard that brings visitors back year after year—book early if you want a summer weekend or a pitch during the Highland Games.
What makes Ballater more than a well-kept stopover is what lies beyond the gate. The Seven Bridges walk follows both banks of the Dee, the Deeside Way heads east for cyclists, and salmon fishing can be arranged locally. The park's own bike hub offers secure storage for expensive kit. Balmoral is ten minutes west, Braemar half an hour, and the climb up Craigendarroch gives you a viewpoint over the whole strath. Glen Muick and Lochnagar are twenty minutes south, while the village keeps enough independent shops and cafes to make restocking more pleasure than chore.

My husband and myself love this place all are friendly and that includes the campers so nice . Toilets and showers best ever. 5 mins from town really lovely. We went to the balmoral pub had food it was amazing service and amazing food . Told our family they said is it worth an hour's drive. Absolutely 💯 percent yes. We will be back for sure going there for few drinks tonight 😀.

Despite it being on our doorstep, it has taken a while for us to visit here. We've missed a great place! The pitches are generous in comparison to elsewhere, in a beautiful, incredibly peaceful, setting. The facilities were very well maintained, and not too busy, despite the site being full. Couple that with the ready access to the town, and all the walks/hikes/cycling around.

We visit this beautiful site every year. Its located in the village so perfect for visiting local restaurants pubs and cafes. Site is well maintained with generous size pitches. Reasonable price considering location and high standard as well. One of the best sites in Deeside and highly recommended.

For my first camping adventure (66yr old) I could not have chosen a better camping site. Beautiful location amid fantastic scenery and access to a variety of wonderful hikes and trails. Staff are super friendly and the facilities such as toilets and showers are second to none. Spotlessly clean and extremely well maintained. Located on the banks of the river Dee and a couple of minutes walk in to the centre of Ballater with its lovely shops and places to eat. Fully intend to return later in the year.
