About Clarke Cottage Guest House

Clarke Cottage Guest House sits on Halbeath Road on the edge of Dunfermline, around eight miles from Aberdour, offering straightforward, well-kept accommodation for visitors who want a guest house feel rather than a larger hotel. Now managed by Coorie Doon Stays, it has built a solid reputation for a warm welcome and good value in a town within easy reach of both Edinburgh and the Fife coast.

Rooms are offered as ensuite twins or doubles, each with a television, mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and ironing facilities, along with a separate seating area and access to a microwave for guests who want to prepare simple food. Free parking and secure bike storage, available by arrangement, make the guest house a practical base for visitors touring the wider region by car or bike.

Dunfermline's own historic centre, including its abbey and the ruins of the medieval royal palace, is a short drive or bus ride away, as is Aberdour itself, along with easy access to Edinburgh Airport.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean and the beds VERY comfortable. The location is only a short walk to the train station and we enjoyed the quiet of being in a smaller city. The bus stop is just across the road. The host was great. Very helpful with train and bus schedules and things to see. Would definitely go back.

This guesthouse was a perfect location for our business and leisure visit to Edinburgh and Dunfermline respectively. The owner, Suzanne was extremely courteous to our needs and provided my wife and me with some excellent insights to what Dunfermline and Edinburgh had to offer. The guesthouse was kept to a very good standard of cleanliness and was deceptive in its size, a place that was akin to Dr Who's TARDIS - larger on the inside than its perceived outside size. Breakfast was of a continental format and was substantial for our needs; fruit, yoghurt, croissants coffee, tea, orange juice, toast, and eggs (an additional option and done to your liking) were all available. We will definitely try and book in to this venue if available in mid 2026. Congratulations Suzanne for maintaining such good standards and thank you for making our visit very comfortable too. Sincerely Steve and Rhiannon Jones

Lovely, homely feel to this place that you don't get in more corporate and cold feeling hotels. Really nice owners that welcome you, especially if you are new to the area as I was, staying here temporarily whilst sorting out accommodation for my new job/relocation. They replace tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk with biscuits on your room everyday and there is a fridge in your room. You have a TV with access to netflix and prime. Well worth staying here.

My wife and daughter stayed here for 3 nights on the end of a trip through the UK. The hosts were extremely accomodating - providing gluten free dairy free food options, arranging airport transport for them, giving directions and recommendations. The breakfast room was lovely and offered the opportunity to visit with other guests. The room and beds were very comfortable and had all necessities. The location was great - walkable (even with luggage) to train station, bus access in immediate vicinity, and walking trail to downtown Dunfermline. They enjoyed the hosts, B&B, and city very much. A quiet respite from busy touristy travel in Edinburgh.
