Had never been or even thought about going bouldering until last Friday when I had an induction as part of a Christmas gift. Since then I spend most of my time thinking about going, looking at equipment and watching videos about it..... needless to say it's addictive. This is completely down to The Climbing Unit. Incredibly friendly staff that are knowledgeable, experienced and approachable, it's more like chatting to your mates in all fairness. The climbs range from easy with absolutely no experience to I don't think it's humanly possible, they're all colour coded and they use the V rating system, there's a board with the system on it if you're unsure. There's also lots of crossover so it's easy to progress without becoming intimidated by harder climbs. There's lots of routes available at all levels and these seem to change at regular intervals so there's always something new to climb. There's a cafe selling snacks and hot/cold drinks, although it's £5 minimum card spend, there's also a free drinking water station (fill your bottle, don't actually drink from it). There's also a shop selling climbing equipment and lifestyle clothing. Climbing shoes and chalk are available to hire. Toilets are spotless and they have changing facilities alongside lockers, storage facilities, lots of seating and free parking.

Ok, this was my second visit to the climbing unit- I was impressed with the range of differing styles of climb on offer ( caves, stepped walls, slab, crazy overhangs). What I find crazy is the lack of hold brushing going on! I have been to several gyms around the country, and most places have semi clean holds due to the constant brushing by the community of climbers - not here! Things were quite slippy, especially on anything below V4. That said, they sell a lovely giant brush for pretty cheap, so the problem may solve itself. Colour graded system seems fair and comparable with other places- I seem to have visited at very busy times also, which is nice to see - people where freindly and chatty - oh, and the staff are spot on!

What an absolutely amazing bouldering Hall. The staff are super friendly, and the climbs are really fun. I've had such an amazing time, and even brought multiple friends tp experience it as well :)

Hands down the best climbing gym, at least the best I've ever been to. Staff are super friendly and very helpful, the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. There is a great variety of routes, and the setting is really creative. Also the cakes are divine. 10/10
