Great Langdale Bunkhouse

I was with the group who posted the review below. 6 of us stayed in a room. We're all regular hikers and this isnt our first experience of shared accomodation/hostels. The below review already points out the issues with mould and the flies in the womens bathrooms. I would like to add that the room is over crowded and shouldn't sleep 6. When we returned from a day hiking the entire room had damp bed sheets. Presumably from condensation - hence why there is mould growing. Even my bag and clothes in it seemed damp. I think it should also be raised that whilst there are multiple toilets/showers for men. The women have access to one toilet and one shower. In addition to the flies was the volume of cobwebs/bugs in the bathroom which have unlikely appeared in between cleans. The extractor fan looked like it hadnt been cleaned for years.

Had 2 nights in one of their rooms and have to say I was pleased with the experience. The rooms and facilities were fairly clean. As someone who loves a shower, the showers were beautifully hot and powerful with a decent little cubical in there to get changed in too. For the prices of the rooms I would happily return. Thank you for a pleasant stay

A room with bunk beds, a fridge, WiFi and multi plug sockets. It works absolutely fine. Super powerful shower (once you get the gist of it.) Stagecoach bus 516 runs up here but are bi-hourly at best. I got a great midweek bargain especially as The Lake District is EXPENSIVE. Honest opinion:- due to its location (unless your doing treks) I wouldn't want to be paying more than £50 per night midweek and perhaps £70 at weekends out of season. The price in the summer add another 50% !!!

My walking mate and I stayed last weekend in a two person bunk. We managed to park outside but there is parking available nearby. The bunk room has a full size fridge, which doubles up as a table, cups and a kettle. Also a multi socket extension which is handy for charging phones etc. Beds are nice and comfy and made up, just pop your quilt in its cover, well pleased. Made sure we returned the compliment by stripping them before leaving. Lots of talk about the showers and how they flood, guess it will happen when one opens the door to turn the shower on and adjust the temperature before getting in and shutting the door, so care is needed. The bunk is very close to two pubs which serve good food and decent Guinness👍 Loads of first class walking routes from the door. Big shout out to Al, who lives on the premises, supplied us with towels and extra pillows as needed, and an all time nice guy, thanks for your help. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the hostel and will definitely be returning. Tip 1, take cutlery as required. Tip 2, the bunk room is quite small so leave trekking gear in your vehicle until you need it. Top Tip 1, take flip flops, it’s cringeworthy watching people walking barefoot on a wet floor. Top Tip 2, Go and enjoy, its excellent value for money in our opinion.
