Great Langdale Campsite (National Trust)

Overall, this was a decent place to stay. The shop was well stocked, and the shower facilities were clean and good quality, I would describe them as being the best we have used whilst camping. However, it was frustrating to be spoken to about a minor issue, when we first arrived, while people were openly smoking drugs on site and were not spoken to. It felt like the rules weren’t being applied consistently. There is a bus stop which allows for easy travel into the local areas and multiple walks from the site with two near by pubs. Apart from that, the facilities were good, but a more consistent approach to enforcing the site rules would make for a much better experience.

Good location for high fell walking but the campsite does seem to attract the clouds and rain. Big campsite and busy at weekends but the facilities cope. Good shop. No phone signal but you can get free National Trust WiFi outside of reception. Great for checking the weather. But for some strange reason the National Trust don't tell you about it and promote that there isn't any. Major problem was the pitch for our campervan, hard standing, sharp stones which have done quite a bit of damage to our awning ground sheet. Unlike to return.

Such a lovely campsite! I visited just before Christmas and it was wonderfully peaceful. There are fantastic views from everywhere on the site. Really nice pitches, decently stocked little shop and facilities but the best thing about it is the staff. Such friendly people who genuinely care! I’m more of a wild camper but some campsites are worth staying at and this is one of them.

Absolutely wonderful camp site. The views were amazing and the location was so convenient, great hikes and two pubs within walking distance, check-in was smooth. We loved our two nights here. However we were not made to feel welcome… as we were packing up a member of staff approached us in an aggressive manner accusing us of something we didn’t do. We tried reason with him and explain the misunderstanding, but this fell on deaf ears, and as a result we gave up and left immediately feeling disheartened. Not only this, but he also made out that we broke the booking rules and said we all needed to be ‘vetted’ when we had previously had clear email communication with another member of staff… didn’t realise we needed a visa to go camping (as UK resident)? This was unfortunate as the shop staff were super friendly. This is a real shame as it was the first visit here in five years without our wider families and now our memories are tarnished :( It’s nice to be nice 🧡🌅🏔️
