Tucked just off the centre of Ambleside on Low Gale, Barnes Fell Apartments puts guests within easy reach of the fells and water that draw people to this part of the Lake District. The surrounding streets lead quickly out to walking and cycling routes, with fishing and watersports also available nearby for those keen to get out onto the lake itself.
This is adults-only accommodation, with en-suite bathrooms and drinks available in the room. Reception runs around the clock, so arrival times are flexible, and free on-site parking makes it straightforward for anyone travelling by car into the National Park.
Pubs, restaurants and other eateries sit close by for evening meals, along with entertainment options for those not spending the whole day outdoors. It's a practical base for exploring Ambleside and the fells beyond, without needing to move the car once you've arrived.

We had the best 2 night stay at Barnes Fell Apartment in Ambleside. Ethna was a wonderful host, really lovely to meet someone who clearly loves the area, and loves to provide value to those visiting. The apartment was exactly as described, the panoramic views from the window overlooking the fells was fantastic. The steps to town are right outside the front door, so Ambleside is only a short 5 minute walk away. We loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be going back when we visit the lakes again!

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed it immensely.Ethna was a great host very friendly and welcoming.Lovely views from the apartment and just a 5 minute walk into Ambleside.So peaceful just what we needed for a relaxing break away.We will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed our visit to Ambleside and our stay at Barnes Fell. Ethna was the perfect host and made us feel very welcome right away. Parking was easy and the town is in easy reach. The apartment had everything that you needed and was very nicely furnished. The views from the lounge, particularly early morning is mesmerising and was so relaxing to sit and watch the mist roll down the valley whilst enjoying a morning coffee. A fabulous stay with a fabulous host. Thank you x
