About Wanslea Guest House

Wanslea Guest House sits on Lake Road, roughly midway between Ambleside's town centre and the harbour at Waterhead, giving guests a genuine choice of direction for an evening walk. The property offers a small number of ensuite rooms in a traditional Lakeland stone building, kept simple and comfortable rather than styled to a boutique standard.

A cooked breakfast is included each morning, and the guest house's position close to both the shops and the lake shore makes it a practical, well-located base without the higher rates charged by some of the more boutique properties in the centre. Parking is available on site, a useful advantage given how limited street parking becomes in Ambleside during the summer season.

Its straightforward, no-frills approach suits walkers and couples who want a comfortable base within easy reach of everything the town has to offer, without paying for extras they won't use.

We absolutely loved our stay at Wanslea Guest House. Our room was very spacious and had a sitting area. Everything was extremely nice and well decorated. We liked its quiet location a bit outside of the busy town center. It was a 10 min walk into the center of town for a wide array of restaurants, pubs and shops... 10 min the other direction to Lake Windermere. We never used our car in 3 days! The highlight of our stay was meeting the wonderful proprietors, Steve and Tina. Steve suggested perfect walks for us each day, providing detailed directions straight out the door of the guest house. They gave excellent restaurant suggestions. We loved chatting with them; they're the nicest people you'll ever meet and the definition of hospitality.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this B&B! The atmosphere is incredibly warm, making us feel at home right from the moment we arrived. A huge thanks to Steve and Tina – you are amazing, helpful, and truly wonderful hosts!💕 Our rooms were spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and well-equipped. Another massive highlight was the breakfast – absolutely delicious, with a fantastic variety of fresh options to choose from every morning. Thank you so much for such a delightful stay.

Stayed here recently for 4 nights . Had a great time. This was our second time staying here so we knew what to expect. B&B is extremely clean . Great breakfast served promptly and nice and hot (fried bread very scrummy) Steve and Tina nice and friendly always had time to talk to us and show interest in our activities. We will stay here again without a doubt. Best wishes to you both from Robert and Debbie. Liverpool x

This was our 2nd or 3rd stay with Steve and Tina, I can honestly say they are brilliant hosts, polite and attentive, the breakfast is fabulous and sets you up for the day. The rooms are spotless and comfortable.. they live in a beautiful part of the country and are helpful if you need advice on the local area.. Steve even found us some screws and a screwdriver and helped us fix a screen on one of our bikes before we left, what a legend.... there's a small carpark to which is so handy for us to get the 3 motorbikes off the road while we're there.
