Cliff Cottage

Cliff Cottage suits families or groups wanting space to spread out across four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The whole property is yours alone, set at the end of a private track near Appin in Argyll and Bute. You're roughly a mile from the Lyne of Lorne, with the 3-acre gardens offering different appeal depending on season—a wood burner for winter stays, outdoor space for summer ones.

The cottage is detached and renovated, with parking on site and wi-fi throughout. Bed linen and towels are provided. A short walk takes you to Port Appin, where ferries run to the Isle of Lismore; from there you can visit medieval castle ruins, an Iron Age broch, and the abandoned quarry village of Sailean. Castle Stalker, a favourite with photographers, lies a little further north. The area has several restaurants, and Oban—with its distillery tours and boat trips to Mull, Iona and Staffa—is within reach. Fort William and Ben Nevis are an hour away, with Glen Nevis accessible for walks and film location tours. One dog is welcome; smoking is not permitted.
