About The Kennard
Bath's streets of honey-coloured Georgian architecture are best explored on foot, and Henrietta Street puts you within easy walking distance of the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey. The Kennard occupies one of these period townhouses, its elegant proportions and original features carried through into a 12-room guesthouse that feels more personal than a large hotel.
Rooms vary in size and style, some recently updated, but guests consistently find them comfortable and well kept, with strong water pressure in the bathrooms and plenty of original character retained throughout. Breakfast is a genuine highlight, with a broad spread of quality ingredients and good coffee served each morning. A restaurant and bar are on hand for the rest of the day, alongside a small gym, an indoor swimming pool, and a garden for quieter moments.
Free on-site parking is a useful bonus in a city where street parking is limited, and concierge and laundry services take care of the practical side of a stay. With the abbey and the Roman Baths close by, and the wider city easily reached on foot, The Kennard works well as a base for exploring Bath without needing to rely on taxis or buses.
What guests say
This hotel was perfect in every way. Not only are the staff absolutely so sweet, helpful, kind, and efficient, it is a great place in and of itself. The amenities are a great value for money. I loved the mattress. The design of everything was so cute! And the location is perfect because it's close to everything you want to do but still on a quiet street, so you're never disturbed in the night. Love it!

I spent two nights at The Kennard. Pros: Excellent location!! Kind staff. Quiet. Spacious enough room. I loved the sconces! Suitable breakfast. Cons: I agree with some of the comments that the room felt a bit dated. I also killed three bugs in my room. The fan in the bathroom was loud and kept going for a long while after you’d turn the light off. The blinds and space under the door let in light at 4:45am and 9:45pm during Summer making it challenging to sleep. All I had for breakfast was yogurt and a bagel, I wish there was more hot foods like eggs or porridge and the hours were 8-9:30am which I found quite restrictive when I had a morning workout class and a morning train so I felt rushed. Found some cobwebs in my room as well. No one showed me that there was a garden we could use! Overall would recommend but some issues that are easy fixes!

We have just returned home from a 2 day stay, in Bath, at the Kennard boutique guest house, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We received a warm welcome, from reception, on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff, who were friendly and attentive, throughout our stay. We stayed in a snug double, in this beautiful period listed building, which was decorated in keeping with the house, with charming features and an honesty bar, thoughtfully located and well stocked, although we didnt use this. Our room was spotlessly clean and, although small, had everything needed for a lovely stay, with nice little touches, such as; bottles of local spring water, tea/coffee, and home baked biscuits, replenished daily. Robes and slippers were provided, and the bed was very comfy. Buffet breakfast was exceptional! Quality items of food, and beverages, carefully chosen and very well presented with very pleasant members of staff on hand during breakfast time. Location was great! Just a 5 to10 minute walk into Bath centre. Thankyou so much for our stay.

I really don’t understand all the positive feedback. To be clear, you are paying for the location, but I would have booked elsewhere. Room was dirty, including a pile of hair behind the door of the bathroom (clearly hadn’t closed the door when cleaning). The TV didn’t work, which sucked because I would have liked to watch the World Cup. Small things like bulbs being dead were just annoying. The place I stayed in London had cook to order eggs each morning (Aster House- 5 stars) so the breakfast here looked meager, especially for the price. Never met anyone because no one was at reception when I arrived at 5 pm on a Saturday. I booked a “snug double” and it certainly was that, but I didn’t mind the size. Possible I had the worst room in the place (top floor #9) but still, just a poor stay overall and I’m not a very picky person.
