I had dinner at Pizarro on Bermondsey Street last night and it was absolutely delightful. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere was warm and buzzing — exactly the kind of Spanish-tapas vibe you hope for in London. We began with a glass of the house Gran Reserva Cava — crisp and festive, the perfect start. Then we shared some starters: the Morcilla de Burgos con sepia (Spanish black pudding with cuttlefish), and a classic slab of jamón ibérico. The morcilla-and-sepia dish was a revelation — rich, earthy black pudding paired with tender cuttlefish — smoky and savoury in just the right balance. The jamón, as you’d hope, was deeply flavourful, the kind of ham that makes you appreciate why this restaurant has built its reputation on Spanish authenticity. For our main course we went for the white wild prawns with garlic oil, paired with fried eggs and triple-cooked chips. The prawns were succulent and garlicky, and the eggs and chips added a hearty, comforting touch — simple but elevated. Everything felt generous yet refined, perfect for sharing between two without feeling heavy. Finally, we shared a dark chocolate mousse for dessert, drizzled with extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkled with salt. It was decadent and surprising — the olive oil added a silky richness, and the salt brought out the chocolate’s depth. A beautiful, grown-up sweet note to end the meal. On top of the food, the service stood out — warm, attentive and friendly. Between good food, welcoming staff and a lovely vibe, the whole experience felt special. Pizarro is a gem — excellent food, great atmosphere, and service that adds to the charm. Highly recommended; I can’t wait to go back!

It was our first time here. Well-cooked cod and cuttlefish, soft and juicy. Every dishes we ordered were delicious. The waiter and waitress were friendly, knowledgeable, and proactive. Will come back for sure. We spent around £120 to £130 for three people, which was definitely less than other tables. Endive salad might sound boring, but give it a go! It looks simple but tastes vibrant.

Every dish was consistently excellent and fresh. The iberico was slightly chewy and the croquettes were nothing special. The medium rare steak was some of the best I've had. Even the desserts were flawless with some of the best dark chocolate mousse we've ever tried. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. All wait staff are very familiar with the menu and make good recommendations.

As a Spaniard living in London, I’m always excited of finding Spanish restaurants of this quality in London. The food was amazing. Great quality, super tasty and it really felt like being back in Spain but with an exciting twist to some dishes. The prawns were great quality and super tasty. The meat was perfectly cooked and really tender. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. It was a nice day so we were outdoors and the waiter was always there when we needed something. Fully recommended!
