About Britannia Hotel Birmingham - New Street Station
New Street itself is the setting here, with Birmingham's main railway station and the city centre shops and bars all within easy reach of the door. For anyone arriving by train or needing to move around the West Midlands without a car, the position is hard to beat, even though there's no parking available on site.
The Britannia Hotel Birmingham - New Street Station has 214 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, and some offer large televisions and tea and coffee making facilities. Accessible rooms are available, and lifts serve the upper floors. That said, some rooms show their age and the general upkeep of facilities can be patchy, so it's worth keeping expectations realistic on the finish and maintenance side.
There's a restaurant and bar on site for meals and drinks without having to go far, and pets are welcome for those travelling with animals. Beyond the hotel, New Street sits among plenty of pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues nearby, making it a practical base for exploring Birmingham on foot.

What guests say
Very tired hotel attracting what could politely be described as an "unsavoury" clientele. As a single female traveller I am currently sitting in my room NOT feeling safe. The couple in the adjoining room are arguing loudly. Banging things. There is no phone in my room so if I want to call reception I'll have to use my mobile to call the hotel landline. I've put a chair against my door and jammed the handle with a hanger. Room smells of old smoke. Paint is peeling off wall by the bed. Bathroom is clean. Bedding is clean though only one pillow. Can't wait to get out of here to be honest. I only booked it because it was close to New Street train station. I reiterate, I don't feel safe. UPDATE next door "guests" played loud music until early hours. Bed very uncomfortable. Slept in my clothes as room cold and no extra blanket. One thin pillow. No extras. Couldn't wait to get out. It's like my dormitory!! Whenever I go through Birmingham I stay here! Would love to say that the rooms are very clean but most of times they r not... The shower rooms are better and newer but they won't last long... U can see about their quality but also u can always find a hair or two! Think it's nearly impossible how u can pay around 50 pounds exactly the same as u woul pay in britania Manchester... Manchester about cleaning and service is practically the same.... But is majestic and beautiful and way less noise than this one...! Last time I paid 98 pounds... And they had lots of rooms... They can't do a good attention to loyal clientes that keep coming back nearly every month! Plus u also have to pay 15 pounds just to stay a couple of hours more;; is Crazy!

Great check in experience Surprisingly updated and modern room with clean, decent shower. Fan in room big modern tv. Good night sleep. Lift a bit smelly. Very convenient for station.

Totally sub standard rooms have no windows extremely hot, only small fan which did nothing to cool down the room. Tired and dated throught out, poor maintenance, light bulbs missing and room poorly prepared for occupation , towels missing having to ask three times to get this resolved. Entry to hotel is in alleyway which smelt that it had been used many times as a toilet. Only good point very central to station and shops. I will not be returning.
