About Macdonald Burlington Hotel
Birmingham's city centre is where the Macdonald Burlington Hotel makes its home, tucked just off Burlington Arcade with easy reach of the shops and attractions that keep the area busy day and night. The hotel occupies a building with genuine historic character, spread across five floors, and pets are welcome for those travelling with a dog in tow.
The 112 rooms include family and accessible options, all en-suite, with air conditioning and the kind of comfortable bedding and strong showers that guests notice. Some rooms show their age and maintenance can be inconsistent, so it is worth bearing in mind alongside the otherwise well-equipped setup. A restaurant and bar operate on site, breakfast and packed lunches are available, and room service, laundry and concierge services cover most practical needs, with lifts serving all floors and meeting rooms for business visitors.
Staff are consistently described as helpful, and the location is the hotel's strongest card, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment all within easy walking distance. Parking is not on site but chargeable options are available nearby, useful for anyone arriving by car in a city centre better explored on foot.
What guests say
The lobby and corridors were very nice. The front desk staff were OK during check-in but not massively happy to see a new guest. The room was not good. It was exceptionally hot with no way of controlling the air con temperature, and not able to open the windows as it was over the main street. There was a fan but it didn't help with a restful night's sleep as it was both very noisy and not very powerful. I ended up having to lay with my head at the foot of the bed so I could listen to something on my phone- there were no sockets near the bed. This was a very uncomfortable night, and not very much sleep happened. The breakfast was excellent though, and the breakfast staff were lovely. I would recommend it to a friend if the hotel invested in some renovations including adjustable air con and sockets near the bed. I can't believe any staff have spent a night in one of the rooms and thought it was of an ok standard to take people's money for a night's stay.

We stayed in the superior deluxe double. The room was massive, very good size with a huge bed, sofa, two tv’s a little seating area with table and a desk. The room was clean and modern and can tell it was recently refurbished. The corridors could do with modernising but I’m sure that will come. Check in was easy and easy to arrange breakfast to be delivered to the room. Breakfast was delicious too. The room had a safe, fridge, nespresso coffee machine with pods, biscuits etc

The reason to be here: Absolutely flawless location, under 60 seconds to the train station and connected directly to trams as well. Hundreds of shops and experiences. Pros: Reception was nice and polite throughout my stay. Extremely clean and sanitary room, literally spotless and considering the age is remarkable. Hotel room was quite large with plenty of natural light, and the window is openable if desired. Large desk for working. Cons: Rooms are dated, and in dire need of upgrade - floor squeaks a lot, heat blasting, and windows can’t keep themselves open. Only one working outlet in the room. Bed is heavily worn and is due to be replaced. Other than that it was a pleasant experience, for the price and location it’s hard to be mad.

Lovely hotel & very central so walkable to everything. I didn't get breakfast so I couldn't comment on that. No air conditioning though but a fan in room. Nice bar downstairs
