About Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre
Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre works well for business travellers and conference-goers, with meeting rooms, business services and a central position close to transport links, though its size and facilities suit weekend visitors and families just as easily. With 312 rooms across 11 floors, it's a proper city-centre base rather than a boutique retreat.
Rooms are en-suite with air conditioning, and family rooms and accessible rooms are available alongside the standard doubles; some guests have noted the air conditioning can be noisy, but otherwise the rooms are consistently described as spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast gets particular praise, and the on-site restaurant and bar serve food and cocktails through the day, with outdoor seating for warmer weather. There's also a gym, room service, laundry service and concierge, plus lifts serving all floors and chargeable parking nearby.
Staff are regularly singled out for being helpful and attentive, which counts for a lot in a hotel this size. Golf, entertainment, pubs and restaurants are all within reach nearby, and the hotel also hosts weddings and events, making it a flexible option whether you're here for meetings, a night out, or exploring Birmingham itself.
What guests say
Lovely hotel, very friendly staff and in great location. We stayed in the Crowne Plaza Birmingham for one night. Check-in staff was very friendly and despite us being much earlier than the official 3PM check-in time, we got a room. We however asked to switch rooms due to the aircon being so noisy. The next room we received had the same issue. A very noisy and vibrating aircon. Luckily we didn't need aircon so we turned the unit off, which was fine for the weekend. The hotel itself is nice, rooms are quiet and there is a nice lobby with bar. The room had 2 queen size beds, so great if you take kids and need a family room. The bathroom has shampoo, shower gel and body lotion. All plant based and of great quality. Breakfast was delicious. Very good produce, everything was nice and fresh and tasted amazingly. A good selection of yoghurts, cereal, to croissants, cakes, fruit. English breakfast was great too (sausages, beans, eggs, hash browns, black pudding, bacon). Our stay overall was great. The location is excellent and you are in city in minutes. Easy to walk. There is a car park under the hotel, but we parked in the Q-Park. If you book via JustPark, you'll be able to get a nice discount if you book for longer than a day. Great secure and well lit carpark. If you need aircon though, then you might struggle to get sleep if you stay in one of the rooms we stayed in. It really is very noisy and vibrates a lot. Luckily for us it didn't matter as we didn't need it. Without the aircon issues, I would give this hotel a 5 star rating.

I was intending to post a 5 star review but then 15 days later I receive a letter from UKPC for a parking charge. I only parked in their car park underneath the hotel because the hotel staff told me it was safer there with my new car. I then moved the car into their car park as recommended to do so. Having contacted the hotel today after getting a penalty charge notice, the receptionist told me maybe its because I was parked in a numbered bay as if I’m meant to know this at midnight when I moved my car into their car park. No staff member told me this at that time when I was told to park it downstairs and the receptionist talked as if I’m just supposed to know this or to just accept it……If it’s that important (ie where you have to park in a massive underground car park that was virtually empty..)….then surely the receptionist should bring this up for ALL customers at the time of checking in …to avoid this nonsense in the first place. I can only say this feels to me like a massive money making scam to be sent a penalty notice for £60.00 some 15 days later. I had paid for my car park stay on the way out but thats not been accepted because it was in a "registered bay". How am I meant to know this its not as if the bay had a name on it? I simply cannot recommend a hotel where the hotel staff don’t tell you where you are meant to park in a massive multi storey car park and then fob you off afterwards when you complain …as if it the car park has nothing to do with them… sorry but your staff told me to park there in the first place and did not tell me where to park (ie in area x or y of the damn car park).. wherever that is…. Please don’t insult me by saying there are signs around the hotel lobby or elsewhere in the car park…..yes everyone is going to look at those when they check in for the first time ever ..of course! Ps I am IHG platinum Elite so ..Ive stayed in my fair share of IHG hotels…and know one or two things about parking! …I can’t recommend this hotel due to parking chaos...and the cost! Id rather stay outside of town with free parking and none of this nonsense.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. I had to move here around 9pm due to an issue with another local hotel who's air conditioning was not working. The staff are so friendly. The room was spotless. I got room service and got the salmon and oh my goodness it was delicious. Probably best room service I've had (and I travel a lot for work so get it a fair bit). Hotel in a perfect location for the conference centre. 3 mins walk. Nice and quiet too. I'm so glad I had to move hotels as this was absolutely perfect.

Stayed here with my daughter for one night after going to a concert at the arena and so glad we did. Fantastic location for arena and shopping. Parking right underneath the hotel. Smooth check-in and friendly reception staff. Room was perfect. Plenty of space, two double beds, air conditioning (very welcome in heat wave). Breakfast was excellent, kitchen and serving staff amazing. Needed some urgent toiletries and reception staff very helpful. If I got to a concert at the arena again will definitely be staying again! Oh and thanks to Jenny for making our room clean and welcoming :)
