About Holiday Inn Express Birmingham City Centre

Holiday Inn Express Birmingham City Centre suits travellers who want a straightforward, well-run base rather than a fussy stay - business visitors after reliable comfort, weekend city-breakers, and families who need practical space without excess spend. Spread across 18 floors on Holliday Street, it puts guests within easy reach of Birmingham's attractions and transport links, with restaurants, pubs and eateries all close by.

The 250 rooms are modern and kept clean, with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning as standard, plus family and accessible rooms available for those who need them. Some rooms run on the smaller side, so it's worth bearing in mind if space is a priority. City views are on offer from some rooms, and each comes with drinks available in-room.

Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar, along with a complimentary breakfast that guests consistently rate for its range of options. Staff are noted for being friendly and helpful, which goes some way to smoothing over the lack of on-site parking - something to plan around if arriving by car. Business services, laundry and luggage storage round out the practical offering, making this a sensible pick for anyone prioritising location and convenience over frills.

Excellent Stay in a Great Birmingham Location I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Birmingham for one night and was thoroughly impressed. The hotel's location is extremely convenient, within easy walking distance of Birmingham New Street station, Symphony Hall, and a great selection of bars and restaurants, making it an ideal base for both business and leisure trips. The hotel itself is clean, welcoming, and refreshingly no-nonsense. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were friendly, professional, and made me feel genuinely welcome. My room was quiet, spotless, and very comfortable. A particular highlight was the lighting, which was excellent and well thought out. Combined with the effective blackout curtains, it created the perfect environment for a restful night's sleep. The bathroom was compact but still a good size, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The Dove toiletries were a particularly nice touch, leaving my skin feeling moisturised rather than dried out, which is often the case with hotel amenities. Breakfast was another positive aspect of the stay, with a good selection on offer and everything well presented. My only minor criticism would be that the plates could have been a little larger. Overall, this was an excellent stay. Comfortable accommodation, friendly service, a fantastic location, and great attention to the details that matter. This will definitely be my hotel of choice whenever I visit Birmingham in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre. The room was always clean, comfortable and well looked after throughout our stay. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh and healthy options every morning. It was a great way to start the day. A special thank you to Sanahya, Uma, and Sharada, who were always so welcoming, kind and professional. Their warm smiles and excellent service made our breakfast experience even more enjoyable each morning. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so pleasant. We would definitely be happy to stay here again when we visit Birmingham in the future.

Safe, good quality, reasonably priced hotel with air conditioning minutes from Birmingham New Street station and the city centre. The hotel rooms are lovely and spacious, with a chair, table, double bed, TV, kettle and helpful extras such as an ironing board and iron and hair dryer cleverly stowed in a cupboard next to the mirror. I really liked the spacious shower size and the large size of the rooms. The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable, with options for soft or firm pillows (or you can ask reception for feathered pillows). The rooms are air conditioned. The system needs 15 minutes to reach the desired temperature, and the mode needs to be set to the snow ❄️ symbol to air condition the room - the room will not cool on the sun ☀️ or 🔁 modes. The sun and snow symbol look similar so I think this is why some comments here complain about air con. The breakfast lounge is huge, full of light and a nice space to have breakfast and relax. Some of the photos I saw here make the lounge look like it's in the basement, this is not the case it's huge and has lots of natural light. There was no queue for breakfast. The breakfast itself was standard fare, nothing to write home about. My only comment is the breakfast needs better coffee - it tastes burnt. I skipped the coffee after one sip and took advantage of my conferences free coffee instead.

I liked that they accepted my on the day booking and recognised my IHG membership. I didn’t like how I booked on the IHG website 2 days earlier and it didn’t actually book it. I didn’t like the long walk from the car park to the hotel. I didn’t like the stone cold ‘hot’ breakfast. I didn’t like the air con seemed to be very weak and would often have a green flashing light on it. I didn’t like that there was no power assist on the revolving doors downstairs. I didn’t like that in order to access the external automated door there was an intercom and key swipe. I didn’t like that the restaurant didn’t sell actually meals, just snacks. It was a walk to Broad Street, probably look at alternative places in future.
