About Selina Birmingham
Selina Birmingham suits travellers who want a straightforward, sociable base in the city centre rather than a fussy hotel stay - solo guests, small groups and anyone happy to mix private rooms with a communal, easy-going atmosphere. Set on Livery Street, it puts guests within reach of Birmingham's attractions and transport links, with plenty of restaurants, pubs and entertainment nearby.
The hotel has 22 rooms, including private and family options, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and drinks provided. Breakfast is served on-site, and there's a bar for evenings in, plus a gym, garden and meeting rooms for those combining work with the trip. Free WiFi, luggage storage, laundry service and packed lunches round out the practical side, and airport transfers can be arranged, though there's no parking at the property itself.
Staff are consistently helpful and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with rooms generally kept clean and comfortable at a fair price. One point worth noting: some guests have found the hot water inconsistent, so it's worth flagging with staff on arrival if it matters to your stay.

What guests say
I strongly recommend Malacuna! My room was spotless, large and well equipped. The central area is very nice. The staff were all excellent! I was there during the hot weather emergency, and they gave me a fan which was not initially in my room. I really liked the location. I easily walked to the art museum area. If I ever come back to Birmingham, I will be staying there!

DO NOT BOOK! On first glance everything in the room was fine it looked clean however we were woken up in the middle of the night swarmed by BED BUGS. They were everywhere, tiny and huge, we immediately left the hotel and proceeded with getting a refund through Expedia who we booked with. Upon leaving, the 2 males at the reception desk were unhelpful and unfriendly. We explained we wanted to check out that the bed was covered in bed bugs and they just sat back and said ok as if they knew the beds weren't clean. We didn’t get a sorry or offer to be moved to another room. We are utterly disappointed and disgusted. For your own hygiene and peace of mind do not book this hotel/ hostel.

perfect location for exploring birmingham or for attending a concert in the city. the common areas are lovely and relaxing, i didn’t personally go there to meet people so it was perfect for that really as it was very quiet and spacious. the rooms were clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly and accommodating

The room and place looked brilliant except there was a kitchen section in the loft room but no cooker or microwave just a really small mini fridge. They can make better use of the space! There was also no heating and cold water, was freezing every night and could not take a decent shower. Incredibly frustrating.
