About The Blue Piano Guesthouse

A pair of townhouses on Harborne Road have been joined together to form The Blue Piano Guesthouse, giving the building a bit more scale and character than a typical city guesthouse. The rooms include family options with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available to order in, and room service if you'd rather not head down. It's worth noting that upkeep in some rooms has been patchier than you'd expect, so it pays to ask what's on offer if that matters to you.

Where the place really comes into its own is downstairs, with a restaurant and bar that draws people in for its own sake, not just as a place to eat before heading out. Dishes such as Thai curry, sweet potato balls and Nasi Goreng feature among the food people return for, served up in a setting with live music and staff who are attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden for quieter moments, along with meeting rooms for those combining business with the stay.

Free WiFi and 24-hour reception cover the practical side, while a pub, restaurant and entertainment nearby, plus a golf course within reach, give guests plenty to do beyond the guesthouse itself. It's a stay built as much around the atmosphere at the table as the bed for the night.

We attended my sisters retirement party last night for about 95 people. What a lovely venue! It is close to the city but in the more sedate location of Edgbaston. It was the perfect location for a party. The food was excellent and the friendly, hard working staff exceptional. The atmosphere was relaxed with a singer and a band. In addition, there were two breakaway areas for those who preferred to chat. In summer, with the outdoor area it would be even better. All in all, we could not have asked for more. No doubt there will be further bookings. There is no direct parking but within minutes of the venue there are public parking areas.

The Blue Piano - what a great night. We had a meal using first table which was great value. The food is lovely and staff are really friendly. Everyone seemed to know each other and it had a great atmosphere. We went on a night where there was a band which was great. Singing dancing and food whats to complain about

Awful Where do I start? Parking wasn't easy on a very busy road not helped when staff took up half the only available bay. Given wrong room key. Gets in room tv not working. No cups for a tea Then no milk - didn't have any! No shower gel or soap. Dirty bedding with blood stains on. Couldn't get back in the building after 9pm as fob wouldn't work. No staff around then. Not answering phone numbers. No breakfast. I want a refund for remaining nights! Do not book this hotel
