About Travelodge Birmingham Central

A restaurant on site and drinks available in the room make Travelodge Birmingham Central a straightforward base for anyone who doesn't want to stray far for a meal, while the surrounding stretch of Broad Street offers plenty of pubs and bars for those who do. Breakfast and dining options sit alongside 24 hour reception, so arrival times and appetites are equally flexible.

The hotel has 136 rooms across nine floors, all with en-suite bathrooms, with accessible rooms available and a lift serving every level. Beds are comfortable and staff are consistently helpful, though some rooms show signs of wear and can suffer from noise, so those wanting a quiet stay might request a room away from the street or lift.

Pets are welcome, and the location puts shops, dining, and city centre attractions within easy reach, with entertainment and nightlife close by. Parking is not included on site but chargeable pay and display parking is available at Tenant Street and Granville Street, both one to two minutes' walk from the door.

Typical Travelodge room. Clean and basic but had what you need for a couple of nights stay. However, due to the location I have never stayed in a hotel which was so noisy from the street below. It was too warm to have the window shut and the loud noise of revellers, cars with loud exhausts and constant tooting of horns went on until well past 4am each night. Unless you will be out partying until that sort of time I'd suggest booking elsewhere, or taking earplugs!

Mixed feelings about this venue. Can’t fault the staff, helped us with requests and even checked us in early. My first issue was that there is no luggage storage and I didn’t see this mentioned on any website or email. We visited during the heatwave and one guest had a large 20kg suitcase and we ideally didn’t want to carry this round all day. Feel this needs to be mentioned in bold as I’ve never had this at any other chain or stay. The rooms are very tired and wouldn’t say the cleanest. Strange stains on picture frames and places such as around the bath. No air con, only a little fan and during a heatwave it was not fun. The biggest issue we had was the shower, absolutely no water pressure at all, barely a dribble. The bath was also scolding hot, the temperature dial did not work and was either scorching or freezing. Again, during a heatwave you’d expect to be able to have a nice, refreshing shower. Now, I will hold my hands up and say we didn’t complain. The main reason being we didn’t check the shower when we arrived as we dropped bags and went back out. I then returned and felt incredibly ill and suffered a migraine so wanted to rest. Once recovered after sleeping for several hours, we had a show at the arena and didn’t have time to faff about so just dealt with it. When we got home it was early hours of the morning. I can’t comment on further help as we didn’t complain but I would expect facilities to work. Positives are that it is an 8 minute walk to the arena, this is perfect. Lots of night light and bars/clubs around, spoons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco next to it. The tram just outside is 3 stops from Grand Central and Bullring. Location is ideal.

Having stayed there last night, I genuinely don’t understand what many of these one‑star reviews are upset about. It’s obviously not the Ritz, but for £29 on a Friday night in Birmingham city centre, you’re basically paying hostel prices for an actual hotel room. Hard to complain about that. Sure, the corridors look like they last saw a paintbrush sometime around the London 2012 Olympics, and the rooms are basic, but everything was clean, tidy, and surprisingly cosy. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom did exactly what a bathroom should, including consistently hot water, which is more than I can say for some pricier places. The staff were great too -- friendly, professional, and clearly doing their best, even when dealing with guests who seem to expect Buckingham Palace on a bargain‑bin budget. Noise levels? Totally fine. You’re staying in one of the busiest parts of Birmingham, surrounded by bars, restaurants, and clubs. Expecting total silence all night is like booking front‑row seats at a rock concert and then complaining the speakers are a bit loud. All in all, for the price, this place delivers exactly what it promises and honestly, maybe a little more than anyone could reasonably expect.

AWFUL. I booked to stay here expecting the usual basic but nevertheless clean Travelodge experience. However the room was filthy. There was a hair on the windowsill, two stains on the duvet cover. The skirting boards were all dirty and the paint was peeling off. The window was dirty and all the rubber seals around it black with mould. The room smelt like sweaty feet upon entering. There are no plug sockets by the bedside on either side. The bathroom was dirty with mouldy grout all around it. There were multiple brown stains on the floor and a white stain on the chair placed in the room. It was awfully noisy even with the window closed. I interacted with two members of staff who said they emailed head office and I was unable to transfer to another Travelodge nearby (having offered to pay any price upgrade) and I was told that I couldn’t as I’d already checked in! Of course I’d checked in, how else would I have seen the state of the room! Staff very unhelpful, said I can only speak to a manager tomorrow morning which was not appropriate as I have to leave the site at 8am ahead of an exam tomorrow. I have paid out of pocket £90 plus a taxi to the Travelodge in Birmingham Aston (great- book here instead!) and will be perusing further action. Do not stay here!
