*– Disastrous wedding stay: At Travel lodge Perry Barr, heat, flies, no privacy, manager screamed at us to leave early * We booked about 10 rooms for our family member wedding large group over the May 2026 Bank Holiday weekend, when temperatures hit a scorching 32–34°C. We needed a safe, decent place for family and friends to stay – instead, this was the worst experience we have ever had, worse than any cheap B&B, and it ruined part of our special occasion. Every room was swarming with flies – walls, beds, floors, everywhere. It was filthy and unhygienic. When we complained, staff actually said: “It’s your fault – you had the windows open!” Let me be clear: NO air conditioning, NO fans, NO cooling at all. With temperatures up to 34°C, rooms were ovens – we had to open windows just to breathe or sleep. Blaming us for your lack of facilities and poor hygiene is disgraceful. Privacy? None at all. Manager Zia. B kept barging straight into rooms without knocking, no warning, no notice – even when people were changing or resting. The worst part: before check-out time, shouting and screaming at us to get out immediately, aggressive and rude, as if we were doing something wrong. It was terrifying, humiliating, and completely unacceptable. When we tried to speak to management, we met Zia B, the Hotel Manager – the rudest, most aggressive person I have ever encountered. She shouted over us, refused to listen, offered no apology, no help, no respect, and just made threats and excuses. She has no idea how to treat guests, let alone run a hotel. Add to that flies in bathrooms, all over the bed linen, bed bugs, we have proof with bite marks. zero care – this place is not “budget”, it’s neglectful, dirty, and hostile. DO NOT BOOK HERE – especially for groups, weddings, or in hot weather. You and your guests will suffer heat, dirt, invasion of privacy, and be screamed at to leave early. We will warn absolutely everyone we know to stay far, far away. Avoid at all costs.

Staff are great and very friendly. The manager is very efficient and helpful too. Adapted wetroom is good. A new family run cafe that has recently opened an is adjoined to the hotel is superb. Hours are good 7am-2pm and 5pm-9pm. The portions are above average and the cooking is beautiful. Good old home-made cooking at its best.
