About Vicarage Lodge Birmingham
Birmingham's West Midlands setting puts visitors within reach of the city's transport links and central attractions, and Vicarage Lodge Birmingham, on Vicarage Road, offers a straightforward base for exploring them. The atmosphere is generally calm and welcoming, making it a reasonable choice for guests who want somewhere unfussy to return to after a day out.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and family options are available, along with in-room drinks. That said, some guests have found the rooms in need of better upkeep, so it's worth bearing in mind alongside the hotel's other strengths. Facilities extend to a bar, a garden with outdoor seating, a kitchen, laundry service and 24 hour reception, plus concierge and luggage storage for those passing through. The hotel also caters for events, with a bridal suite, VIP facilities and wedding venue space, and childcare is available for family stays.
Free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward, and there are pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out. Staff helpfulness has been inconsistent according to some visitors, so it's fair to set expectations accordingly. Overall, it's a functional option in Birmingham with a decent range of extras for the price.

What guests say
We came into the hotel, shown our room and then hear a flush from the bathroom. There was someone in there using the toilet. The guy showing us the room said don’t worry he’s just cleaning, he comes out the bathroom and left it smelling bad (clearly wasn’t cleaning just using the toilet) we found in the bathroom and near the beds ants crawling around. There was a bucket left under the sink in the bathroom because there was a leak. The bucket wasn’t changed and was all brown and frothy. The walls are very thin so you can hear every conversation from next door even whiles speaking quietly. The next door room started smoking weed and could smell that coming into the room. We told the guy about our room. No apology, and was bothered that we made a complaint and wanted a different because of the ants. He said the ants don’t bite, and that we can take the room with gratitude because it was an upgrade to what we originally was supposed have been given. We left the hotel and didn’t stay the night. Again just awkward giving the keys in, the guys we gave the keys to were some other guys at the office. Didn’t even ask us why we were leaving early, didn’t ask about the stay, unapologetic and an absolute rank of a place to stay in

The rooms are dirty and vile and the bed sheets have blood staines on and human hair left on the pillows and sheets the paint and plaster is coming off the wall and they is wires hanging out the wall and the rooms were dirty and shared bathroom and kitchen it’s more like shared accommodation then a hotel and I couldn’t even get a refund absolutely appalling and disgusting. Should be shut down by the council

Very good location. Just in walking distance to famous Soho Road with plenty of shops and restaurants. Bedrooms are in ok situation but could have been better. Bathrooms need urgent attention.

Booked this place through hotels.com and all I can say is the pictures aren’t what you get. It’s for people on benefits. It’s more like a hostel. Not a hotel. It was so bad I didn’t stay. I left as soon as I saw my room. I’m also can’t get a refund. Avoid like the plague or you might catch the plague if you stay there. 👎
