About Bournemouth Carlton Hotel By Sunday

A hearty breakfast and a proper bar are the backbone of a stay at Bournemouth Carlton Hotel By Sunday, along with a restaurant serving meals throughout the day and room service for anyone who'd rather not move. The hotel has 76 rooms spread across three floors, served by a lift, with air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms and family and accessible options among the choices. Staff are noted for being helpful and friendly throughout.

Set on the East Overcliff, the hotel is a short walk from Bournemouth Pier, the beach and Boscombe Chine Gardens, with cycling and walking routes, watersports, golf and fishing all nearby, plus pubs and restaurants close by for evenings out. Fantastic check in and amazing sea view room .Large and comfortable. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. The indoor pool was lovely and clean and warm. Too cold for using the outside pool for us. Dinner was really lovely and staff very attentive. A lovely choice of menu. Buffet breakfast was also plentiful and hot. All the usual added, cereals, fruit bowl, toasts and juices with whatever coffee you like. We are here for our 30th wedding anniversary and im so glad I chose the Carlton hotel to celebrate this milestone . Thankyou everyone for making our stay lovely xx

Hotel is in an excellent location, 10 mins walk from the city centre and right on the seafront. The rooms are air conditioned and spacious. The decor is attractive. Bed was comfortable. I wasn’t very pleased to be served soup made with powder for £8, but the food was otherwise good. Breakfast was excellent. Parking is unfairly expensive at £20 per night. The iron in the room was rusty, the bathroom needed a deeper clean but was not awful, and the water temperature did not get cold enough to drink. Would be good to have some glasses in the room. The phone wasn’t answered when I used it but staff were helpful. Scanning a QR code for housekeeping is a bit cheeky given the price paid. The lift is ancient and scary! Great leisure facilities. Generally positive experience.

Just returned from our third visit to this hotel, and sadly we will not be going again. We were aware the exterior was badly in need of a paint, but now the interior is also scruffy, and very dirty. We had a "superior sea view room" which was o.k. the sea view was excellent. It also had a balcony but I had to pick up 3 "dog ends' and 2 beer bottle tops. Obviously had not been cleaned. There was also "dog ends"in the outside bar area. The main problem was that the food was awful. It seemed good value as dinner was included in the price, but it was all cheap fast food' A total lack of fresh vegetables. It stated that for a £5 supplement, you can have a better choice, but neither of the choices were available! The outside pool and sunbathing area looked great, but again dirty. Such a shame, as it has great potential, but would cost a lot of money to bring up to an acceptable standard.

On arrival by Taxi at 3pm, we were told we couldn’t check in till 4pm, so took a rest in their lovely bar overlooking the gardens and coastline. Serving staff were lovely and helpful until our room was ready. We chose the Family Suite with two rooms as my father has a mobility scooter and needs a lot of space. Set on the 3rd floor with the most breathtaking views, it was a really wonderful place to stay. There are two single sofa beds in the living room area and a king size in the main bedroom so plenty of room for up to 4 people. The breakfast was excellent , the evening meal good. The indoor pool was really nice, although outdoor pool not ready for use yet (although concierge manager said it wasn’t up to him to sort it out!) I highly recommend taking the East Cliff Zig Zag path down to the beach near the hotel, and also the Russel Coates museum just 5 minutes walk away too. Overall a really wonderful stay and I would book the room again for a return visit!
