About Langtry Manor Hotel

Bournemouth's pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues are all within easy reach of Derby Road, making Langtry Manor Hotel a handy base for exploring the town on foot or by car. It's a historic property with just 14 rooms, and the period character has been kept intact, with unique furniture and comfortable beds giving each room its own character rather than a standardised hotel feel.

Guests have access to a restaurant and bar on site, along with an indoor swimming pool, gym, garden and meeting rooms, and breakfast is served generously at the hotel's sister property nearby. Porter and concierge services are on hand, luggage storage is available, and the hotel welcomes pets and hosts weddings. Free on-site parking is a practical bonus for anyone arriving by car, though service has been described as occasionally slow to respond to requests.

With entertainment, pubs and eateries all close by, it suits guests who want to be near Bournemouth's evening options while returning to a quieter, characterful base for the night.

Stayed for two nights on a business trip. Langtry Manor is a beautiful and characterful hotel with plenty of history and charm. The building itself is impressive, and the traditional décor creates a unique atmosphere that’s quite different from the usual chain hotels. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the balcony overlooking the trees was a nice touch. Unfortunately, there were several issues that affected my stay. The Wi-Fi was intermittent when I arrived, the shower was cold on first use, and the shower handle came off in my hand. Maintenance did attend, but the repair wasn’t particularly successful and I ended up putting up with it for the rest of my stay. The freestanding bath looks great, but using the shower inside it is awkward, with very little room once the curtain is pulled around. The hotel has lots of character, but some of the facilities and maintenance could do with attention. Also, despite the “Mind Your Head” warning on the balcony doorway, I still managed to bang my head several times! Overall, it’s a charming and memorable place to stay, but the maintenance issues and practical shortcomings mean I can only give it 3 stars. With a few improvements, it could easily be much better.

Built all the way back in 1877, this hotel feels like stepping straight into history — it really is like staying inside a living museum. Everywhere you look there are beautiful, original pieces of furniture from that era, and walls lined with portraits and photographs of the famous Lillie Langtry, turning the whole place into a wonderful gallery. You can even see one of her actual dresses displayed in the corridor! 🎞️👗 Walking into the lounge, you catch that special, unmistakable scent of times gone by — it instantly connects you to the past and makes you feel part of its story. Our children were absolutely fascinated reading about how Lillie’s spirit is said to still remain here. They were so excited, and even told us they felt sudden cool breezes and caught the faint, sweet scent of flowers — sure signs, they said, that she was right there with us during our stay! ( I actually felt a breeze of cold air myself) 🤭💐 This is a memory they will treasure forever; it truly felt like magic. Breakfast was fit for royalty! Served just across the road at their sister hotel, it was rich, delicious, and presented with wonderful, attentive service — a real treat 👑. We fell completely in love with this place. We are already planning our return trip, and next time we hope to book the famous Lillie’s Room and the magnificent King’s Room to experience even more of its history and charm. Truly 10/10 — unforgettable!

It could have been such an amazing hotel!!! But the standard is not up to the hotel's name and character... what happened here??? The place is unfortunately not clean... No one is at reception which is fine but then no one to complain if there's a problem with your room... just a mobile to call if needed... The worst part the state of the toilet... it hasn't been cleaned for a while... see photos...

We booked this supposedly four star hotel for a weekend break. What a disappointment. You are checked in by a PIN number so there are no staff on reception. The beds are not made in the morning and nor is the coffee/tea etc replenished. Yes the hotel is historic but it needs a good dusting etc. it is more like a self catering establishment. Our room No 11 Lillie’s room had a tiny bathroom which was grubby. The bath was a deep hip bath in the bedroom which was difficult to climb into with the grab rails on the wrong position. Whilst the room was nice again it was dusty and there was a lot of noise from other guests. We would not stay here again.
