The Castle of Brecon Hotel

We visited this hotel for a four night break in June. We had booked one of the four poster bed rooms with breakfast included, and paid extra for a two course evening meal on the first evening, as we had travelled a long distance to get to the hotel. The meal was excellent, so we decided to eat each evening in the hotel restaurant. The second evening’s meal didn’t go as planned, because we were told that they had run out of the dish we had ordered, so we chose an alternative meal. The following morning we were informed that some items on the breakfast menu were also unavailable, including the only option that was suitable for my wife. After the waitress spoke to the chef, we were informed that they now had what my wife required and that the manager would speak with us to explain. I caught the manager’s attention and outlined the issues that we had experienced, including those from the evening before. He explained what had happened, apologised, and asked if we were dining in the restaurant that evening. We informed him that, due to the disappointing experience so far, we were planning to dine elsewhere. However, the manager offered us a complimentary main meal if we would dine with them, so we agreed. This arrangement was fully relayed to the staff that evening and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Although we did have these issues, they were addressed in a way that was satisfactory to us and we would like to thank the manager, Roger, for being so understanding. We would also like to highlight the politeness and professionalism of the deputy manager, Tariq as well as Kian, who went above and beyond to try to make our experience a pleasant one.

A really lovely hotel. Very well equipped rooms at a very good price. Our room had a stunning view and the ceiling fans were a big bonus during the heatwave. Parking was a slight challenge when we arrived at a busy time but outside of peak hours, it's fine. The restaurant food was very good. A wide variety and decent prices. A good selection of drinks available. Really nice gardens at the back.

This was our first stay at The Castle of Brecon and having stayed at 22 hotels in The Coaching Inn group this is now our firm favourite! What amazing views across the town and the hills beyond. This historic hotel is full of character and charm. It has been recently refurbished to a very high standard in keeping with the character of the building. We stayed in the 4 poster King Henry VII room on first floor which felt luxurious and traditionally furnished in beautiful fabrics and furniture. Views from the bay windows were amazing! On arrival we received a warm welcome from Lisa on reception and Karen in the dining room was very helpful and attentive. All staff were professional and attentive throughout our stay in the recent heatwave. It was very hot sleeping in the bedroom but the table fan was effective at circulating air. The hotel manager Roger was very helpful in recommending local attractions that we weren't aware of and kindly told us about fascinating history of the hotel. The food in dining room, once a ballroom, was beautifully presented, tasty and generous portions served. Both breakfast and dinner were so tasty that we booked dinner a second night at the hotel. Our stay at Castle hotel was a memorable one. This was largely due to the hotel staff who made us feel like VIPs. They were proud to be working at this establishment and it showed. Nothing was too much bother for them and their genuine interaction and communication with guests was outstanding. All these factors made our stay here unforgettable. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here for a truly memorable experience. 😍❤️

Met friends here for lunch on a Saturday. Beautiful hotel with very clean and nicely furnished public rooms and plenty of outdoor space and seating. The toilets were very clean and nicely presented. The staff were pleasant and helpful without being overbearing. The menu offered something for everyone and was very well presented, good quality and delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel and definitely would return. Free parking was a bonus.
