About Malmaison Brighton

Step into a room at Malmaison Brighton and you get a smart, air-conditioned space with an en-suite bathroom, drinks in the room and, in many cases, a view straight out over the marina. Across the hotel's 71 rooms the styling stays consistent: comfortable, well-kept and geared towards a relaxed stay, with room service and laundry service on hand for anything you need during your visit.

Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar serving brasserie-style food, with the steak and breakfast spread drawing particular praise, plus outdoor seating for warmer days. The hotel also covers business services and meeting rooms for those combining work with leisure, and free nearby parking is a genuine plus in a seaside town where that's not always easy to come by. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, which helps smooth over the practical side of a stay.

The setting at Brighton Marina puts you near watersports, fishing, cycling routes and coastal walks, with pubs and restaurants close by for evenings out. It's worth noting the marina sits a little apart from central Brighton, so those wanting the Lanes or the seafront promenade on their doorstep should factor in the distance. Pets are welcome, making it a straightforward base for those travelling with a dog.

My daughter booked and arranged everything for her wedding at the Malmaison Brighton, and the entire experience was flawless from start to finish. We stayed for two nights and attended the wedding, and everything about the venue was incredibly inviting. The setting is absolutely perfect for an intimate wedding, featuring a wonderful outside space that guests loved. What truly made the weekend, though, was the staff. They were so attentive, friendly, and extremely helpful, going above and beyond to ensure the day was as perfect as it was. To top it all off, the morning after the wedding was completely stress-free; everything was beautifully cleaned and boxed up ready for us to collect. Thank you, Malmaison Brighton, for taking such fantastic care of us and making our daughter's special day so unforgettable!

Markets itself as a ‘luxury’ hotel but the reality is much more dangerous and shocking. They lured me into a premium priced ‘club double room’ on my birthday weekend 12th to 14th June 2026 I explained on the phone before booking on booking.com how it was my birthday weekend and even though their hotel was a lot more pricey than anything else in Brighton that weekend I was willing to pay if it was this premium ‘club double room’. They reassure me it was one of the best room types. They fraudulently lied and leveraged my birthday to coerce and manipulate me. I got there and straight away when I went into the bathroom I noticed a nasty smell and I thought this is strange this is a luxury hotel. And I went into the room and the smell also bad when I got to the bed where the pillows where it increased. It was of rotting eggs. Nothing would mask it not even by expensive aftershave I’d gotten as a birthday present from someone. I found out later after checking out it was hydrogen sulfide leak that they hid from me and knew about prior to checking in after I checked out 14th my GP told me if I had stayed in there even one more day I would have ended up in A and E or even dead. The hotel was told about this smell halfway through the stay by me in June 13th after the first night they didn’t comment on the source which I found strange (I didn’t realise at the time it was hydrogen sulfide) and they offered to ‘deep clean’ my room and also they said they would fix the sink (which was blocked and I could not even run any water from the tap without it hitting the blockage and filling up. When I came back later that day the rotting eggs smell was about 5-6 times worse by the bed. And that night I was shaking vomiting blacking out nauseous way worse that night before and then after I checked out 14th and saw my private GP and spoke to 3 plumbers plus an ex special forces member who my family knows and confirmed it was a serious hydrogen sulfide leak yes the same gas used by British military to use lethal doses against the enemy in WW1 and this hotel used it against me just for complaining about the gas leak in the first place because by unblocking the sink and not cleaning it out they dumped a huge amount of sewer waste into the pipes without clearing then releasing a huge massive amount of excess hydrogen sulfide even make then before they knew about the fact they did that making it worse on purpose because I reported it and they ignored me when they’d been replying before likely hoping I’d get so unwell I’d pass out and need an ambulance solving their issue if me reporting them. Don’t stay with them they’ll smile in your face and gas you in your sleep they are are a super rich luxury branded hotel who will do anything to protect their precious reputation that their whole income depends on otherwise how else will they charge 3 times the prices of anywhere else ? On top of this they didn’t ell me about a huge music festival next to the hotel that weekend with drug takers going past my window all night both nights sniffing lines shouting and doing sex acts all right outside I could hear all of it .

I’ll start off by saying no negativity towards the hotel, the room was amazing overlooking the marina. I can’t write a review for the restaurant itself, as it is part of the hotel otherwise the hotel would get 5 but the restaurant 1. The front desk staff were lovely, but if you plan to eat at Sora in the restaurant I wouldn’t recommend it. We had an interesting experience for our dinner date. It took 15 minutes for our server to take our order while stood at our table, she messed up what we wanted so we had to correct her and even help her with the order by checking it over on the ipad, we do understand if maybe they had a new system or a new server but I think it shouldn’t of taken that long to try and explain what we wanted and to even help out on the ipad when that’s what a manager is there for. Our starters came out at different times and we had to ask for my one. Our side meant for our main dishes also came out with my starter. We thought it would end there and gave it the benefit of the doubt of new menu, staff etc but it just kept going. Next our mains came out, good presentation but they mixed up who’s was who’s and one of our plates went to a different table so the waitress had to go and collect it from another table! When we received our food the content of our meal was incorrect to what we had ordered. In the sushi rolls (salmon and avocado) there was no avocado included in the rolls. Was told over 15 times the word sorry by how much they were messing up, boyfriends plate came out wet for some reason. Then once mains were finished we weren’t given the option for dessert and was just left so we had to collect a menu ourselves and flag down our waitress for an order but when we got the dessert it came out wrong! We really hate speaking negatively or even writing reviews but we were just shocked how our whole dining experience was just ruined due to so much happening every part of our meal. We loved the hotel and the bar staff were amazing with lovely drinks but please avoid this restaurant until they have managed to resolve these problems. :)

What a brilliant hotel, staff were super nice. Came here for the London to Brighton EV Rally. The chef who did the Barbeque was so friendly. Nice views too looking over the marina.
