About Hyatt Centric Cambridge
The University of Cambridge, the Fitzwilliam Museum and the Cambridge Botanic Garden are all within easy reach of Hyatt Centric Cambridge, making it a practical base for exploring the city on foot or via nearby public transport links. A complimentary bus pass provided to guests makes getting into the city centre straightforward, and the surrounding area also offers cycling routes, golf and fishing, along with a good spread of pubs and restaurants nearby.
The hotel itself has 150 rooms across three floors, described as spacious and modern, with air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms and comfortable beds. Family and accessible rooms are available, and facilities extend to a restaurant, bar, gym, spa and sauna, along with a garden and outdoor seating area for relaxing outside. Breakfast includes vegetarian options and has been noted as a highlight, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful.
Further conveniences include room service, laundry service, luggage storage, meeting rooms and an electric vehicle charge point. On-site parking is available but comes at a charge, and some guests have found spaces limited, so early arrival or alternative arrangements are worth considering. Pets are welcome throughout.
What guests say
If I could give zero stars, I would. The combination of non-functional (or poorly controlled) air conditioning and disappointing customer service made this one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. As a travel agent, we booked two rooms to evaluate the property before recommending it to our clients. While the location is convenient—a short bus ride to Cambridge's main attractions and adjacent to a grocery store and bus stop—the positives end there. The beds were comfortable (7/10), the rooms were clean (8/10), and the bathrooms were modern and well-appointed. The hotel advertises air-conditioned rooms with refrigerators, which was important for our July stay and for storing medication. Instead, both of our rooms remained approximately 31°C (85°F). The Bluetooth-controlled thermostat allowed us to adjust only the fan speed, not the temperature. Meanwhile, the hallways were comfortably cool at around 20°C (69°F), making the issue even more apparent. To make matters worse, the hotel has no guest ice machines. We were directed to the on-site restaurant, which had no ice available. We ultimately had to purchase ice from a nearby grocery store to keep our medication cool, but it melted overnight. Management assured us on two separate occasions—24 hours apart—that the air conditioning issue would be investigated, yet nothing changed and no meaningful follow-up was provided. Based on our experience, this property does not reflect the standard we expect from the Hyatt brand. I cannot recommend this hotel and would encourage prospective guests to consider alternative accommodations.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Centric Cambridge and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel itself is lovely, and the rooms are a good size for a stay of a few nights. Everything was perfectly clean, and the beds were exceptionally crisp and comfortable. Another major highlight was the breakfast, which was absolutely delicious. The staff members were also quite friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. The only downside was the mobile phone reception, which constantly failed to function while inside the hotel. Aside from that connectivity issue, it is a wonderful place to stay. Neighborhood okay, not much to see but within 30 min walk you'll be in the centre.

Stayed here after checking in on 27 June at around 8:30 p.m. with a group of 20 people. The hotel is new and comfortable, but check-in took far too long. The dark-haired lady with glasses at reception was rude, dismissive, and incorrectly told us the A/C problem affected the whole hotel when it only affected some rooms. Huge thanks to Andre and Imogen, who were friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. They showed what great hospitality should look like.

Beautiful room overlooking the courtyard, and overall a pleasant stay with my wife and daughter. However, housekeeping and maintenance need serious improvement. We arrived to find the toilet seat completely detached, and the faux concrete floor in the bathroom was bouncy, appearing to suffer from water damage. Reception was dismissive and promised maintenance for the next morning, but they never showed. I ended up having to fix the toilet myself. I expect much better quality checks prior to check-in from a hotel of this standard. Despite those issues, I want to finish on a positive note. It's a great, bustling hotel in a brilliant location. Having a bus stop right outside (for the U1 and U2 buses) means you can get straight into the centre of town effortlessly, and there are plenty of excellent places to eat within walking distance. A solid choice, provided they sort out their room maintenance!
