Long-established family-run hotel with 28 en-suite rooms on St Mary Street, in the middle of the city centre's pubs, arcades and market.
About Sandringham Hotel
The Sandringham has been run by the same family for decades and occupies a tall Victorian building on St Mary Street, directly above its own ground-floor bar. There are twenty-eight en-suite bedrooms, all with free wi-fi, and the style is comfortable and traditional rather than designed — this is a working city-centre hotel, not a boutique conversion, and it is priced accordingly.
The location is as central as Cardiff gets. The market, the Victorian and Edwardian arcades and St David's shopping centre are a few minutes north, Principality Stadium is a similar distance west, and Cardiff Central station is a five-minute walk. For visitors here to watch rugby, see a gig or spend a night out, being able to walk back to your room in three minutes has obvious value.
The corollary is noise. St Mary Street is the spine of Cardiff's nightlife and stays loud until the early hours at weekends; if that is likely to bother you, ask for a room at the back. Service is personal and the staff know the city well, and for a family-run property at this price in a capital city the standard is dependable.

What guests say
Fantastic location and 24 hour reception meant the whole trip ran smoothly. I called a few times on the days leading up to our stay to check some bits and I spoke to Alison who was so kind and very helpful. When we arrived, she made us feel instantly welcome and comfortable. Would absolutely stay again.

Great hotel! I booked for a single room for one night and was very happy with my stay. The service is friendly and welcoming, and the wifi worked too, even on the top-most floor. Other reviews mention the stairs being steep, but they aren’t really, at least for the average person, and definitely aren’t slippery as they’re carpeted and have metal nosing. Overall, the experience is more than great for the price, especially considering the location. Thank you!

This family run hotel was perfect for me. Clean rooms and great location. The lady at the front desk was so lovely. You walk out into the heart of Cardiff. A tones throw away from the castle and all the action. My room was clean and I just needed a base for the night.
