About The Royal Hotel Cardiff
St Mary Street runs through the heart of Cardiff, lined with restaurants, pubs and shops, and it's here that The Royal Hotel Cardiff has its address. Cardiff Central station is just a short walk away, making this a practical base for exploring the city on foot or arriving by train, and free on-site parking is available for those driving in.
The hotel has 60 rooms, kept clean and comfortable, with everyday extras like kettles and ironing boards included. Some of the decor shows its age, but the rooms are well looked after. Breakfast is a highlight, with a good spread of choice to start the day, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for other meals and drinks. Guests can also make use of the garden, lift access, air conditioning, free WiFi, luggage storage and concierge services, and the hotel takes bookings for weddings too.

What guests say
The room we stayed in was relatively small but comfortable and clean l. It had a walk-in shower and the usual hotel amenities such as a kettle, ironing board and a TV. There weren't enough sockets for us as modern travellers, but this was only a minor inconvenience. The staff were really friendly and very helpful during our stay. They actually went above and beyond in helping us during the heatwave and helping us get to our concert venue The hotel is situated really well, close to all the local attractions. Despite the closeness, the room was quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

The location is perfect! Next to Cardiff central station, next to the interchange bus station, close to Sophia garden coach station (National Express). Since it’s very central, you have many restaurants and activities near the hotel. The staff is very friendly and polite. Our room was clean, we had a kettle with many tea bags, a hairdryer and towels. Our bed was comfortable. We didn’t ask for breakfast, because we knew we could get it for £14/person/day. The hotel seems old, but it’s functional and clean. The only thing is: if you’re a disabled person, be aware you’ll need to take five steps to find a lift going to the second floor, where you’ll find the reception.

excellent stay at this very nice hotel. Little strange when you walk in, as you go up some stairs to enter, then go down stairs to get the lift up to the 2nd floor for reception. very friendly staff, vert clean and spacious rooms, and very quiet. Was not expecting it to be so quiet as it is quite a lively area, but with double glazing and an extra window frame in place we could not hear anything from the area below. excellent choice at breakfast with very attentive staff refreshing items .Very nice hotel and will not hesitate to use them again

Somewhat quirky hotel, quite unlike the usual soulless chain hotel, Reception on 2nd floor, lots of short staircases and corridors. My room was small, which would have been problematic if I had not been on my own. Minor issues were: no tissues supplied, towels were smaller than usual and had small stains. The liquid soap was fixed to a high shelf which made it inaccessible from the bath! Despite overlooking the high street, the room was very quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is really central
