About Travelodge Cardiff Atlantic Wharf
Travelodge Cardiff Atlantic Wharf is a modern five-floor building with 112 rooms, built along practical Travelodge lines rather than for architectural flourish. It sits within easy reach of Cardiff Bay on one side and the city centre on the other, making it a sensible base for exploring either.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks-making facilities, and accessible rooms are available. A lift serves all floors, and there's 24-hour reception for late arrivals or early starts. Some rooms show their wear more than others, so it's worth bearing in mind if immaculate finishes matter to you. The on-site restaurant and bar cover breakfast and evening meals, with a Costa Coffee also nearby for those who prefer to start the day elsewhere.
Free parking is available both at and under the hotel, with further free spaces close by at the Red Dragon Centre, a minute's walk away - vehicles need to be registered at reception to validate the space. Pets are welcome, and the surrounding area offers pubs, restaurants, fishing and watersports for those looking to fill their stay beyond the room.

What guests say
Stayed in two rooms (4 Adults), 3 nights over a weekend and it was ideal. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location for City Centre & Bay. Easy to park and stress free. It’s ’basic’ and would benefit from a good make over however, it was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. The late night pizzas were amazing too! Despite all this, unfortunately I don’t feel it was worth the £1465 we paid and I just can’t give it 5-stars.

Stayed for 2 nights while visiting Cardiff and South Wales, an incredible hotel! Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful going above and beyond, room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. Location was fantastic, being a 5 minute stroll down to the lovely Cardiff Bay and its amenities (shops, restaurants, etc). Right across the road from a large entertainment complex, and about half hour walk from the city centre give or take, with plenty of buses running the route into the city too. Great for exploring Cardiff city and the bay, as well as being only a short easy drive from places like Barry. Would absolutely recommend!

The night we spent was at a low price, but they charge significantly more for weekdays. The bedside lights on one side of the bed didn’t work and the bathroom ceiling was covered in mould. The bathroom extractor did not seem to be working. As we were there on a Sunday we did not report these things till check out on Monday morning as it seemed unlike they could be remedied on a Sunday. It was summer and warm outside and the rooms are not air conditioned, so the room was 26’C at 10pm with the window open as far as it would go, and the desk fan at full speed. By 6am it was 27’C and rising as we left. In order to cool the room we left the curtains open, but there are large stadium type lights in the car park outside, and these shine straight into the windows if uncurtained. A choice had to be made between air and excess light, so air won, but not great for good sleep. The hotel foyer is air conditioned, and cool, but our room was not.

Noisy. Hotel as next to a large arena development and very noisy construction starts at 0730. I ask at reception if anything could be done. I was told it was on the website so they wouldn't do anything. The website! "The hotel is located within the up-and-coming Atlantic Wharf development. Works are ongoing on the exciting new arena and multi-storey car park." No Aircon so if warm you can open the window to fully appreciate the construction noise. Rooms are a little dated. Cracked toilet bowel? Only two plug sockets that are not by the bed. Very few staff so long waits at in staff reception desk.

Guests consistently praise this hotel for its decent breakfast spread, friendly and helpful staff, and the convenience of free and ample parking. Its great location near both Cardiff Bay and the city center is also frequently highlighted.
Some reviews mention the rooms can be poorly maintained.
