About Travelodge Cardiff M4

Travelodge Cardiff M4 suits anyone who needs a straightforward overnight stop rather than a destination in itself, whether that's a late arrival off the motorway or an early start the next morning. Set within the M4 Moto Service Area near Pontyclun, it works well for drivers heading into Cardiff or on towards the Brecon Beacons who want to break up the journey without going out of their way.

The 53 rooms across two floors are simple and functional, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks facilities, covering the basics without any pretence at luxury. There's a restaurant on site along with a breakfast option, and further eating choices, including a Costa Coffee, are close by within the service area. Free on-site parking is provided, though drivers need to validate their vehicle with reception on arrival, and there's an electric vehicle charge point for those who need it. Pets are welcome, and a golf course is nearby for anyone stopping for longer.

Wi-Fi is available but limited, so it's better suited to a short, practical stay than a working trip that depends on a strong connection. As a budget stopover just off junction 33, it does the job it's designed for: a convenient, unfussy place to rest before continuing the journey.

Really poor experience. Dont get me wrong, it was relatively cheap but I think the least you could expect is a clean room, reception and corridor. It just felt very dirty (stains, rust), I probably should have checked reviews first but having stayed in Chester and Llandudno Travelodges recently, I incorrectly assumed all chain hotels maintained a fairly similar standard…wrong. Staff rarely available but friendly enough when there. I spent as little time here as possible.

The rooms are a bit tired but for the price we had a great holiday. The staff were great and very helpful. The water was lovely and hot. Will definitely be going back.

The hotel is little more than a hostel. It's a place to sleep and wash, that's it. The decor is like that of a 1970s council house and there is a strange smell in the corridor. The walls are thin so hope you don't get noisy neighbours. My phone didn't charge on the USB socket next to the bed overnight because the light switch has to be turned on for it to work!!!!! The lady on the front desk was nice though and parking is free but remember to register your car with the receptionist.

Well it's a budget room, a very budget room. We paid ~£55 for a family room which was the only option for two of us. So its a good price but you really do get what you pay for with this. Uncomfortable beds, rather dirty dusty rooms, a TINY shower (which I could barely fit in) that soaks the bathroom because of the basically non existent shower curtain and rooms where you can easily hear through the walls. On the brightside the receptionist was lovely.
