About Pinegrove Hotel

London Road runs into Carlisle from the Cumbrian countryside beyond, and it's on this approach to the city that you'll find the Pinegrove Hotel, a 29-room base handy for anyone exploring the region rather than staying put. Free on-site parking makes it an easy stop whether you're passing through or settling in for a few nights.

Rooms are en-suite, with family and accessible options available, plus a bridal suite for those booking the hotel as a wedding venue. Some rooms are better kept than others, and a few guests have noted issues with musty smells, so it's worth bearing in mind alongside the otherwise fair value on offer. A restaurant and bar serve meals on-site, breakfast is included and generally well regarded, and packed lunches can be arranged for days out. Meeting rooms are available for those combining business with the stay, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful.

A golf course, pub, and further restaurants are all nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings out, and pets are welcome for those travelling with animals. Free WiFi and 24-hour reception round out the practical offering.

I'm not sure where to start, this hotel is in need of major cleaning and improvements and should not be open to paying customers till its done. The whole building smelt of damp and cigarettes and looks very run down. Granted we thought the room price was cheap compared to others in the area, but we were not prepared for how poor it would be. Our room was filthy with mold growing in the corners and damp stains on the ceiling. The furniture had what looked like grime all over it and the bed was uncomfy with cheap and ripped bedding. There was absolutely no air flow in the room which was boiling so we had to have the windows open and at night and we could smell someone smoking something questionable close by. We very nearly left but thought we'll get through the night although we didnt really sleep. I booked this hotel from the adverts room photos and positive reviews but these are not the true representation of what guests are getting. The hotel owner asked in the morning how our stay was and when we said not good their excuse was that they had only recently taken over ownership and they hadn't refurbished that room yet. Instead they were working from the top rooms down to the ground floor. That is not a good enough excuse they should not be selling rooms in that state as its completely misleading for customers

Not recommended Arriving at 8:30pm I was "greeted" by a non-conversant person who simply grunted at me, gave me my key and I had to ask for directions to my room. The bed was so soft that it went through to the base. Room was filthy, table was still sticky from whatever was on there before. Bathroom was dirty (see photos) and sub-standard. The walls are very thin and the noise from adjacent rooms very clear. This place should be closed!!

Stayed here for two nights not expecting anything amazing but for the price you can’t expect a five star experience, Especially when we paid 95 for 2 people and 2 nights. The mattress was rock hard and the shower wasn’t great, It was way too small to fit in and I’m not exactly a massive person. The place seemed very dated and not the most secure. When we came in I had noticed there was rubbish about the floor and when I asked staff about any shower stools for my disability the guy didn’t understand a word of english. I understand that it’s a family ran thing but I was hoping for something that could help my disability as I had to show a photo of what I meant, needless to say they didn’t have it so I had to sit on the floor and I couldn’t get out. Not really their fault in particular as I should of planned this but lesson learnt. Apart from that for the price you can’t really expect anything different, there was a bit of mould on the floor and on the open roof and the door didn’t close in the bathroom meaning my partner would have to listen to me using the toilet which felt a bit invasive but it’s ok. The shower also was either freezing cold or beyond boiling which hurt the skin very badly and that also felt a bit dated Lastly my partner complained that the room had coffee and not soap which was a bit annoying and that would probably be about it. Overall I wasn’t sure whether to give it two or three stars given the price but this is my first time staying on a hotel on my own, not sure if I’d come again but overall an alright experience, you get what you pay for in this situation

4 night stay, its a budget hotel so get what you expect, but was clean amd presentable and staff were helpful. Didn't use the bar or breakfast so cant comment on that side of things. But what do you expect for £35 a night.
