About Travelodge Carlisle Central

Travelodge Carlisle Central suits anyone after a no-fuss overnight stop rather than a destination in itself - visitors passing through on the way to the Lake District, people travelling by train, or those wanting an affordable base in the middle of Carlisle. With 66 rooms spread across five floors, it's a practical choice for one-night stays, weekend trips or longer visits where budget matters more than frills.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and are generally spacious with comfortable beds and strong hot showers, though some rooms show their wear and could do with fresher upkeep. A lift serves all floors, and accessible rooms are available. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, which goes some way to making up for the more mixed opinions on the food - the on-site restaurant and bar cover breakfast and evening meals, but quality doesn't always match expectations.

Pets are welcome, and drinks can be brought to the room. Outside, Carlisle offers pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach, plus a nearby golf course and walking routes for those wanting to stretch their legs. Parking isn't included on site but is available at Cecil Street Car Park nearby at reasonable rates, and the central location keeps the station and city centre within easy walking distance.

Just stayed one night w/o breakfast on 2 Aug 2026. Below average of many Travelodge hotel expectations. Room and corridor with smell of something acidic, mixed with heavy sterilisation liquid. Duvet cover with little bits of stain on outside, didnt bother to swap. Liquid dispenser almost empty at the shower. Traffic and birds outside can be very noisy, so try earplugs & closed windows. Chaotic parking with many cars around but still able to load/unload and parked at paid parking over night not far away. Appreciate the good location and high ceilings for rooms. Not expensive overall and staff was nice. Key cards easy to use and the lift/staircase access with no problems. Hope they can improve in future.

Very pleased with the Travelodge here in Carlisle. The lady at reception was really friendly and helpful, made us feel welcome. Lovely big cool room. The hotel is off the main road with no traffic noise. The room is clean with all the basics. The bathroom has a walk in show and is really clean. What's not to like? It's not the Ritz, but you knew that when you booked. Decent room, decent price.

Had a great stay here on Tuesday 02/12/2025. The room was clean and a good size, the only problem was there are no sockets near the bed to charge our devices. The staff were very helpful and informative especially Gemma on the front desk who advised on places to go and parking. Would definitely recommend and stay here again, great location. Thanks Gemma.

Book into this hotel for 4 nights service and help from the staff is amazing but the rooms are terrible in the 4 night I think I got such a bad sleep if any the rooms are far too HOT as soon as I walked into my room I had to get out if it asap went down and spoke to the staff and all they could offer was a desk fan and said its like this every year. Please invest in getting air-conditioning put in the rooms as this has not been a good stay apart from the lovely staff working here
