About The Slaughters Country Inn
Lower Slaughter sits within easy reach of Bourton-on-the-Water, and the surrounding Cotswolds countryside offers plenty for those who want to be out and about, from walking and cycling routes to golf, fishing and horse riding nearby. The village itself, with its riverside paths and stone cottages, makes for a pleasant stroll straight from the door of The Slaughters Country Inn.
The inn has 31 rooms spread across three floors, including family and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms and the usual comforts of free WiFi, room service and drinks available in the room. Free on-site parking makes it straightforward to explore further afield, whether that's a pub lunch nearby or a longer walking loop through the Cotswolds. Staff are generally friendly and the rooms comfortable, though service has occasionally been described as inattentive, so it is worth allowing a little patience during busier periods. Pets are welcome, and luggage storage is available for those breaking up a longer trip.

Lunchtime Saturday afternoon in March . Location is epic. Very photogenic. The entire restaurant bar and dining area has been superbly decorated to a very high standard. The staff were polite and helpful. We had a table by the indoor open log fire. Up to this point it was perfect. I had a half of Hobgoblin which as an ex Brewer was superb. The disappointment was in the food. The tomato soup was very average despite an attempt to snazz it up with a swirl of olive oil. My girl said it tasted like the one from Tesco. We both ordered coronation chicken baguettes. These had barely any chicken in. £44 for two baguettes and half of water. Too expensive. Go for the location ,the service and a drink. Not the food. It must be hard to make money , I get it but a bit more filling would have been better at this price

One star for the delicious sausage roll. As soon as we walked into the pub we did not feel like we were welcome. We found an empty table outside, had to help ourselves to menus and went into the bar to order to be told we can’t have food on that table ‘it is exclusive to the horse box’ yet there was no signage about this. We managed to find a different table outside which we were allowed to order food at but we suddenly weren’t allowed to order at the bar, we were told a waiter would be outside to take our order. We ordered baguettes and then 10 minutes later they came to tell us they were sold out but the horse box does good food. I wasn’t going to move tables again so decided to order sausage rolls from the starter menu. The sausage rolls were served warm with a mustard dip and were delicious. We had been finished a while and were waiting for the table to be cleared and either to be offered a dessert menu or bill but no one came. We then saw a ‘well off’ looking family arrive and it was as if the red carpet had been rolled out! They were shown to a table, offered for an umbrella to be put up, menus given to them and then when I tried to get attention for the bill I was ignored. We ended up going to the bar and pay. To top it all off they added a tip without asking. Very disappointed and felt very uncomfortable the whole time. It was as if tourists aren’t welcome there and will not be returning.
